5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great Morals, Good Stories, Well Illustrated 19 mai 2000

We're on our second read through of this book of children's morality tales.
With poems, short homilies and stories, Bill Bennett entertains young children as life's good lessons are imparted. The accompanying illustrations are visually delightful.
Some of the stories, because of word usage, appeal to a slightly older audience than my four and five year olds, but they can appreciate most of the vignettes. A good book that helps parents in childhood instruction.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 We love this book 3 janvier 2017

We love this book. The stories are fun, short and full of morals and messages that kids really need to learn like "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again" and so many others. It is a great bedtime or anytime reading book for toddlers and elementary aged kids. We will get a lot of use out of this for sure as we try to raise good people in a seemingly angry and selfish world.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This book teaches character 5 avril 2016

I purchased this book when I decided to do a unit on character traits for our home school. I have an 8 year old and a 12 year old autistic child. Both enjoy this book very much. It is a very nice hard cover book that has entertaining stories that focus on good morals and values. There are poems, Aesop's fables, and stories from around the world that show children traits such as kindness, honesty, and responsibility. The illustations in the book are also remarkable. This is a must have book for anyone with small children.

Nicely presented and much needed for this generation as well as many to follow. It is refreshing to see some timeless manners and values still being published today. We actually thought this was an old book and was pleasantly surprised to learn it is a newer published book.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent poems and stories that hold the students' interest 9 août 2014

I used this book to teach a Virtues & Etiquette course in a summer enrichment program for Grades 3-6. Excellent poems and stories that hold the students' interest; I would read one poem and story each class to highlight a particular virtue (e.g. kindness, courage, patience, perseverance), then have a discussion with the students about ways to show/act out the virtue. Students would write down 3 examples/ideas in class and perform one (with parents' permission) for homework, then write a report about what they did and the results. I'd call on 2 or 3 students to read their reports aloud the next class and briefly discuss. It was the perfect book to use! This would also be an excellent book for parents to read aloud to their children, as raising children with a moral code - regardless of culture or religion (or lack thereof) - is sorely needed in our society today.
