Présentation de l'éditeur

Based on the NY Times best-selling military science fiction novels by David Weber, this original comic book series introduces space ship captain Honor Harrington on the eve of her execution. From prison, Honor relays her epic adventures, starting with a command outpost to a hellish backwater star system that turns out to be the source of an uprising that will bring war to her home planet. This series is part of a new multi-platform story world that includes The Secret Fleet, a ship-to-ship combat mobile game app available for free download on both iOS and Android and a feature film in development.

Includes comics from issues #1 - 5.

Love this comics, I'm a fan of the Honor Harrington's novel, and I was eager to read them in a comics form.

The story is not just a transcription of the original book, so it's like reading it with new eyes. The characters are well depicted, the universe is great, maybe too "dark" in the choice of colors, even if it's about space and wars.

The only thing that really bug me is Nimitz ! He looks like a gargoyle ! With some snake-like skin, not a fur animal at all. It's described in the book as a cat like animal, with "fluffy" fur !! Okay I understand to not make it look like "cute", but this ! really it's awful.

But I will look for the next comics, and I would love to see the whole saga in comics too !

HASH(0x92834e58) étoiles sur 5 With just a few changes we could learn to love your visual Reboot of the Honorverse but this is not movie ready. 16 janvier 2015

PLEASE: I want to see an Honor Harrington movie, but you are ignoring your fan base that wants to work for you.

1: Visually there are two critically important uniforms in the Royal Manticoran Navy. One is the Skin Suit that you did very well, though the helmet needs to be able to be "racked" on the back of the command chair. The second it the usual duty uniform, a tunic in Black and Gold. I beg you to consider getting the design from the defunct table top game "House of Steel", it was perfect and you can get it cheap. It also has a cleaner art style the you should give consideration to if you intend to do animation in addition to live action in your movie options. Please also remember the colors, they are important and so are the uniform awards that will show up as the story continues. The stars are for hyper capable commands, not rank insignia. If you have to keep your design, please correct the colors and figure out how you will attach the rank, medals and ribbons to something that looks like an x-man costume. If you can do it and in the right colors I'll try and stop hyperventilating.

2: NIMITZ is "cute". He is overlooked as being dangerous by adults, small children love him and all tree cats because they are cute and fluffy. Nimitz is FLUFFY, remember Honor brushing him on the tropical prison planet because his very thick fur was torturing him in the tropical climate? He is a cat, not a Hexapuma that are black demons from hell. Please consider trying again. Consider that with a thick layer of fur he would be easier to animate since there would be some hidden motions. Also the tail has to be fluffy too as part of their survival during the Griffon winter. So a THICK fur coat.

Ok I realize I'm not your target audience of bringing in new people and this is a reboot similar to the recent Star Trek movies, but even they realized that you can't kick your guaranteed fans too hard or they will not buy the DVD, extended release Blue Ray, Toys, Ship Models, spinoffs etc. I am a loyal fan of David Weber, I am not yet a fan of your revision. I want to be.

I am not just being a hater. I didn't criticize the ship designs, I am trying to be accepting and even learn to love some of the alterations in time. I want to like what you are doing.

I can overlook the muddy art style though it is hard, I can hold my breath over the redesigns. But the Uniform and the Tree Cat are too central to the story to lose. The only thing worse would be to start messing with the names of the characters. You don't have to do it the way I "see" it, but make it look like you read the books, liked them and wanted to see them live. So far I see ego getting in the way of vision. Doing "My artwork" is not the same as great work with a talented group creating a living world that lifts us from out world into Honor's. The vision we love started with David, and he is a great and easy to get along with guy. His fans are a little more demanding. Please consider uniforms, especially colors, and TREE CATS. Make it easier for us to love what you do. Thank you for your attention and I hope these were constructive suggestions and not just frustration.
Good luck, keep trying, and there is still time.
Regards, Michael Lee Burgess

HASH(0x92834eac) étoiles sur 5 Not for fans of the novels. 13 décembre 2014

I too found this comic to be a poor "re-imagining" of the wonderful original novels. Nimitz is unrecognizable, even for a work in progress. Other details are as bad. The often described Royal Manticoran Navy's "space black and gold" uniform has somehow become a weird grey trenchcoat kind of thing that is decidedly unmilitary, ugly and just wrong. Much of the story is slightly adapted or simply lifted straight from the novels so I can't find much fault there. The graphics, on the other hand, are not for the established fan. One wonders if the comic artists ever actually read the books.

For new readers who do not know the series I suspect it will do well. It is an exciting and interesting story, with lots of action and futuristic technology. As an established fan of the novels however, I am unlikely to buy future issues of the graphic series. It is just a poor substitute for the real thing.

HASH(0x92e631a4) étoiles sur 5 Total misfire from the books 9 décembre 2014

Will not be buying any more of these. The story line varies from the book too much and what they have done to Nimitz! From a small furry animal with 6 legs he is illustrated in this book as a flat black more demon looking! Nothing at all like the Nimitz David Weber has described in such detail in his books.

It's an interesting take on the Honor Harrington universe but it's like the artist(s) involved hadn't bothered to actually read the books first. The uniforms are very different from what's described in Weber's works. Heck, all you have to do is look at the covers of the books to see what they look like. Even looking at the cover of this graphic novel, they didn't even get her hair right. The artwork is nice though. Too bad it's different from what's been presented previously.

I read the original book years ago. I thought this graphic novel followed that outline fairly well, it some of the plot lines I remembered were downgraded or simply not present. Basilisk Station, I believe, was the original Honor Harrington book, or at least the first I read, and this version this lacked something. I was very tempted to go out and buy the original Weber edition to compare the two. I think the main difference was the amount of time spend on the planet Basilisk.
