Description du produit

Présentation de l'éditeur

The Tao of Survival focuses on real - world, core survival skills that can save your life anytime and anyplace, in any emergency situation. It delves into fundamental concepts that most survival books don't cover, including how to deal with fear, developing mind/body skills, and fully engaging your senses to be aware of your surroundings. James Morgan Ayres has worked as a consultant for various U.S. Government agencies and private corporations, founded four companies, and lived and worked all over the world. He's written seven books, taught seminars on the tao of survival and related subjects, and has been a student and teacher of Asian thought, martial arts, healing, and meditation for more than forty years. He currently lives in Southern California. --Ce texte fait référence à l'édition Broché .

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Oft-overlooked, fundamental survival skills. Be prepared. 19 juin 2014
Par Rhett W. Whitaker - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
There are dozens of survival books which present you with lists of tasks and instructions on how to perform them in situation XYZ. Light a fire, find your way, treat your wounds, 1, 2, 3.

This book largely assumes that you can get this kind of information elsewhere (because you can) and instead focuses on the foundation of mental preparedness you will need to do these kinds of things in the first place. At its heart, the book aims to help you integrate yourself more fully into your surroundings, whatever, wherever, or however dangerous they may be. The more awareness and understanding you have of any given environment, the less likely you are to come into harm's way. That said, the book is not a magic bullet (or pill, or feather, for that matter) - you are going to have to practice in order to make sure your first reaction is the right one.

A must-have resource for anyone who wants to move about the world with the confidence.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 OUTSTANDING adjunct to survival for everyone! 12 juillet 2013

This book is the one thing that is missing from all other survival books!
Not just the mind set, there are lots of books on that,
but this one covers how to TRAIN the MIND & MASTER the BODY
so that it can not only serve you better in survival
but these things will only enhance your overall life.
It seems a little out there until you dig in and really read it,
then it's mind blowing in it's simplicity and intensity.
This is what makes it powerful and relevant.
A must read for everyone who seeks to learn to live!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 How to Focus Your Life 19 avril 2013

For those who take it to heart this will be a life-changing book, and the change will be an improvement.
As of this writing there is one other review on this volume, and the author starts in the spirit of full disclosure by saying he is a friend of the author.
So am I, in the long distance way we find friends these days, an internet buddy. Morgan Ayres contacted me at the suggestion of Myke Hawke, author of perhaps the best overall survival book out there now. Ayres had contacted Myke to ask him to do an introduction to this book, which Myke was very happy to do as the book is a marvel. Myke also suggested that Morgan email me, as we have interests in common. Myke, Morgan, and I are all former Special Forces soldiers, which is a unique and usually bonding relationship. To get into Special Forces one must pass a number of tests for competence and cooperation that are beyond those normally required on the street. What Morgan and I share beyond that is an interest in what might be termed spirituality if that term were not unnecessarily limiting. Morgan is a student of the Tao, and I have been a student of Toltec wisdom. Basically we're talking about the same pie, sliced a bit differently.
So, this is not the full course on Survival, as Myke's book is. It focuses on the absolutely most important factor in survival, attitude, consciousness, focus. Most survival books don't even touch on this. Myke's does, but briefly. This is the best book on getting your mind right in a tough spot that I know of.
I took my time reading through it once, because I wanted to contemplate each topic thoroughly before going on to the next one. It's an exercise book as well, and I plan to go back through it and do all the exercises, even though many of them duplicate work I have done in other places and at other times. I want to go where this book takes you. All situations are at bottom survival situations, but also they are all enjoyment situations, and being fully present greatly enhances the enjoyment of life. One must be present and engaged.
Toward the end there are some practical tips for dealing with survival situations, but mostly this is an exercise book in being fully alive, engaged, involved, and happy. You're here anyway; you might as well like it.

This book deals with the most important aspect of survival, controlling what you can control, which begins with you. Should be mandatory reading for military and law enforcement personnel.
