Description du produit

Revue de presse

"With a lightning pace, captivating characters, and astonishing twists throughout, The Hit is guaranteed to keep your attention from the first page to the last."―The Times-News (NC) on The Hit

"The best Baldacci novel in years...What makes The Hit live up to its title is the payoff at the novel's end. By then, Baldacci has planted an emotional hook that remains long after readers have turned the last page of the book."―Associated Press on The Hit

"Another fast paced page turner that will keep you glued to the couch...by an author who continues to standout in the increasingly crowded thriller field."―Examiner.com on The Forgotten

"Baldacci is a master when it comes to writing about small-town conspiracies and a lone hero who fights against all odds to clean up corruption. The narrative moves slowly, so the reader has a chance to solve the case along with Puller. It might seem straightforward, but the final reveal will surprise even hardcore thriller junkies."―The Washington Post on The Forgotten

"The Innocent is Baldacci at his absolute best...Baldacci provides the reader a non-stop pulse pounding ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat into the wee hours of the morning...Five Stars."―Examiner.com

"This book is a definite one-day, 'edge-of-your-chair' read, with an ending that is a complete surprise. One of the best Baldacci's since Absolute Power, this is one that will have all suspense readers enthralled."―Suspense Magazine on The Innocent

"Readers expect excitement and intrigue in David Baldacci's books, and Zero Day is no exception...As Baldacci's new hero narrowly escapes countless close calls, the pairing of the author's imagination and knowledge create a wild ride for the reader. Puller is gutsy, brash and likable. Best of all, he survives to reappear in the next book of this new series."―The Free-Lance Star on Zero Day

"Zero Day is a nifty, paranoid thriller disguised as a murder mystery, and Baldacci advances it at a speedy clip with a nice mix of intrigue, tantalizing clues and the occasional explosion...Baldacci's books are fast-paced battles between good and evil."―Richmond Times Dispatch on Zero Day

Présentation de l'éditeur

The President knows it's a perilous, high-risk assignment. If he gives the order, he has the opportunity to take down a global menace, once and for all. If the mission fails, he would face certain impeachment, and the threats against the nation would multiply. So the president turns to the one team that can pull off the impossible: Will Robie and his partner, Jessica Reel.

Together, Robie and Reel's talents as assassins are unmatched. But there are some in power who don't trust the pair. They doubt their willingness to follow orders. And they will do anything to see that the two assassins succeed, but that they do not survive.

As they prepare for their mission, Reel faces a personal crisis that could well lead old enemies right to her doorstep, resurrecting the ghosts of her earlier life and bringing stark danger to all those close to her. And all the while, Robie and Reel are stalked by a new adversary: an unknown and unlikely assassin, a woman who has trained her entire life to kill, and who has her own list of targets--a list that includes Will Robie and Jessica Reel.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Too Many Plots, Too Little Polish 16 octobre 2016
Par db - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle Achat vérifié
I'm beginning to think I've read too many David Baldacci novels, or it may be that he has written too many, but I feel he's started to write by formula, or by recipe, or (I don't really want to believe) he is outlining the plots and someone else is ghosting the actual writing.
In this novel, the language became, at times, simple and rough, with _none_ of the polish I have come to expect from Baldacci. His earlier novels bobbled on plot development, but the language was polished. I've started to detect in his latest novels language that is hurried, unedited, and choppy - maybe written too fast or by a distracted writer.
One other thing, I don't really understand why it was necessary to bring in the neo-Nazi subplot, or diversion. It added nothing but pages to the story, and it resolved so quickly and not entirely realistically, that I started to think it was there just to make the book long enough to satisfy your publisher. What's going on here? Why am I reading this?
Please, David, take more time to clean up and polish your creations. You owe it to us, and to yourself, to produce something that is more elegant than these recent choppy, broken, and unpolished works.
After The Hit, I'm going to have to take a break and check back in a couple of years to see if you've recovered your skill and your drive to produce quality. For now, Will Robie and Jessica Reel will go on without me.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Mish-Mash, Balderdash. 18 août 2015

"The Target" is so far-fetched that I don't even understand why I bothered to finish reading the book. I am going to sell this book along with 305 other people selling "used" books here on Amazon. I usually keep all my Baldacci books, not anymore. I think I am going to sell or give them away. The same thing happened with Evanovich. The same story told over and over again and exactly how many cars can you actually blow up in one book? I stopped reading her and now I add Baldacci to the list. This book starts out on an implausible plot and a death on the death row hospital wing. I'm still very confused about this. The Witness Protection Program enters into the story line and fails miserably. Then there is this sub-plot, main plot about a Korean woman and an orphan. There is an impossible mission that is carried out like a rescue from a tree house on a six foot tree. This novel is mish-mash and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. This should not have been published for many reasons and I am changing from what I thought was a generous 2 stars back to one star and I'm selling my Baldacci library. Enough.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 "A Compassionate Assassin?" 19 décembre 2014
Par John Mercier - Publié sur Amazon.com

I didn't get much done around the house recently, since I began reading this Will Robie novel. I just could not put it down and when I did, I could not wait to get back to it. This story has action and excitement from the beginning to the end. Like the movie, "Interview", in this story the U.S. government hopes to overthrow the current ruler of North Korea and replace him with their puppet regime.

Of course they call on the team of Will Robie and Jessica Reel, America's best assassins, to accomplish it's goal as together Robie and Reel and more than twice as good. All that I can tell you is that nothing goes as planned. I the middle of all this Jessica is summoned to the beside of rer dying father who is on death row in prison. David Baldacci is such a gifted writer and story teller that he easily combines three and four story into one intriguing novel.

The author skillfully tells the story of the life a skilled North Korean female assassin, Chung-Cha wherein the reader is exposed to life in the most closed society in the world. You will be surprised how the author skillfully put this all together. I certainly was and I equally enjoyed the human compassion throughout the story.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 No more pre-ordering! 22 mai 2014

I pre ordered this book as I'm a fan of Mr. Baldacci's previous novels. This one is a stinker! The two CIA agents have more resilience than superheroes! Yet, being such a superhero the female CIA agent succumbs to what? guilt? and goes to see her father, a father she hates - in prison. What the heck for? Being such a resilient superhero she falls for this gross emotional manipulation - but she can withstand any other type of manipulation? Makes no sense because there was no tie in with the characters emotions previously - she acts like a robot. Then there's another super secret N Korean superhero woman...who also goes against her entire upbringing and life's work, or existence rather. The characters were so one dimensional and the dialgue so lame I stopped reading it about half way through. I only kept at it for that long thinking "I enjoy this author! it HAS to get better!" I was wrong, but I learned a lesson - no more preordering books.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the narration and story line of this book 22 septembre 2016

Sometimes is hard for me to find a good book on a CD that you can listen to while you are driving and not want to kill the narrator. Unfortunately I have had to stop listening to a CD's due to the droning of the narrator, but you will be happy to know this is not one of those CD's. The story line moves from one scene to another in a decent pace and I did not want to get out of my car when I arrived at my destination. The only downside is I wish at the end of each CD, it would say you have reached the end please insert the next CD or something. It was quite annoying to have my six CD player automatically change to the next CD which was a music one as you did not know it was the end until that time. The pause could have meant a new chapter
