Le disque se termine avec l'excellent Parks and what you meant to me.

HASH(0x971fa4bc) étoiles sur 5 PTW does it again 21 mars 2002
Par Un client - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
The reviews I've read so far have said things such as "they've gotten more melodic", (and my favorite)"I am a fan of PTW, but this CD just has too much screaming and sounds like noise." For whoever is saying its gotten more melodic, you're right. PTW has gotten more melodic, but they are maturing. "Tear from the Red" still contains the same hardcore stuff that was in "Opposite of December." Just look at the more melodic aspect on "Tear from the Red" to be a something great your getting WITH the hardcore stuff that we all have grown to know and love from Poison the Well. And for whoever said your a fan, but this cd had to much screaming on it... This cd contains just as much screaming as the old stuff, so how did you arrive at being a fan if you don't like the screaming? I mean, screaming is about 95% of what Poison the Well does, and if you can't apreciate that, then there's no hope for you in Poison the Well fan-hood.
Stand out tracks are "Moments Over Exagerate", "Sticks and Stones Never Made Sense", and "Horns and Tails" is great (very emo) but is different from the earlier stuff PTW has done.
Inconclusion, this band's sincere lyrics and hard hitting riffs are what make them great. This is a must own for any PTW fan.

HASH(0x9724cec4) étoiles sur 5 ...and its good!!!! 19 novembre 2002

I really don't know why some people are complaining about this cd. I read reviews, and some people are calling PTW sellouts or that this album isnt real poison the well...i think these people are on crackballs to say the least. First off, anyone who has listened to "opposite of december" and "tear from the red" more than once can clearly see that their sound has not changed all that much, yet i find "tear from the red" is a much tighter record. The same formula is present on both cd's but "TFTR" definetly represents a much more focused sound. Also, to clear up the confusion, the song "horns and tails" is an acoustic "dashboard confessional" type, slow song that is completly different from the rest of the record and while, yes, it may not be for everyone, the track does not have to be listened to....really...you can skip it...cool eh...
Also, this band does not sound like incubus, the beginning of track 5 sounds like the "wish you were here" intro for about 8 seconds and thats it. So in retrospect, all the "flaws" that people complain about in other reviews are really not part of the record all that much, they account for about 3 minutes of the record..the rest is all classic poison the well. you really don't hear people complain about the other 8 songs on the album, beacsue they all rip! Its one thing to notlike poison the well, but to say they sold out is really stupid...really really stupid....go get this album, its excellent.

I was reading these other reviews that some other people wrote, and i was literally getting extrememly angry and sick at the same time. this is an EXCELLENT CD!! they say it isnt hardcore enough and i cant even express how wrong that assumption is. I thank god everynite for the songs 'Sticks and Stones, Rings from Corona, Botchla, all so hardcore. Buy it, SO worth it

HASH(0x972421b0) étoiles sur 5 but i adore 6 février 2006
Par Mike L - Publié sur Amazon.com

...this album. great progression from the last album. i have trouble understanding why people love the first album and hate the two that follow. each album is great, and each album is an evolution of the band. if i want to hear opposite of december i'll listen to that album. open your eyes, disregard any feedback by other people, and listen to this album for itself, and in fact it's another great release by a great band.

also, it's really cool that the album begins and ends on the same chord: much like a cycle. could this imply anything? that this album was reflective of the time it was written, that it is a separate idea from the album before and any albums following.

HASH(0x97239f6c) étoiles sur 5 a very solid and inspiring album 28 août 2002

I bought this album before the opposite of december and even though i like the first one better this is still a very good buy. My favorite songs are turn down eliot rings form carona and horns and tails... yes. I always liked balance of hard and melodic....im so sick of all these narrow minded hardcore fans. if a band does not change styles...well even the deepest pool stagnates without action. i kind of miss some of the faster songs. but the emotional element of the music is alot more present.. vocals have improved greatly. and i like the touch on karsey street. its distrubing as hell...the lyrics are very thought provoking as well. i refuse to use the term emo when talking about poison the well. emo is syrupy music with sometimes monotonous vocals... that really arent so emotional. and the whole fashion thing is such a joke. if you want emotion listen to shun or glassjaw or dredg bjork or... poison the well. these kids clearly have it together and its not hard to see that they listen to a wide variety of music. i hear deftones all over the riffs. but since deftones couldnt think of them poison the well is at an advantage. while having influence they are still their own biggest influence and it is really hard to find a band that sounds much like them. all im saying is that this cd is great. while not having all the tempo changes that opposite of december had. it has its moments. i really enjoyed how the lyrics to horns and tails were negative and the song seemed almost playful.... it didnt even have a chorus now thats good song writing. the best way to describe poison the well is like incubus that has been in hell for the longest time... theyre like someone who smiles at you and hides a knife behind their back. in truth the only real let down is the length..on both albums. all of you so called hardcore kids open your minds and ears and shut your mouth... not all music has to be screaming to be apreciated and not everything emotional is whiney. and the term emo should be banished to the pits of sub genre hell from whence it came. thats my peice.
