The Only in Texas guys are back, with the final sexy PI finding his true love in Texas Hold ’Em. This fun and sassy story features not one, but two lovely romances, a bit of suspense, and a touch of author Christie Craig’s sparkling signature humor.

Austin is a man with a (very justifiable) grudge, but his quest for justice doesn’t dim his charm any. It’s easy to be drawn to Austin. He’s attitude and good looks pull you in, but his abandonment issues will grab your heart and his fear of cats leads to some hilarious moments, thanks to Leah’s four furry terrors and one adorable stray. As for Leah, she’s a hardworking vet who’s been burned by her father, her ex-husband, and her criminal half-brother. Leah’s got a big heart and a winning personality; she’s everything Austin needs even though both are reticent to risk their hearts in a relationship. I liked both Leah and Austin immensely, which made it easy to fall in love with Texas Hold ’Em.

Though Texas Hold ’Em is undeniably a romance, the overarching Hotter In Texas plotline – bringing down the man who landed Austin and his partners in jail – takes over much of the book. I won’t spoil what happens, only that Ms. Craig gives the story a satisfying conclusion. There’s also a secondary romance plotline involving Leah’s friend, Sara, and Roberto, the investigator Austin, Dallas, and Tyler hired to dig up evidence on Leah’s half-brother. The Sara-Roberto love story was every bit as important to Texas Hold ’Em as Leah and Austin’s romance, and I absolutely adored it.

Christie Craig is the author I turn to when I’m looking for engaging, well-crafted romances with plenty of humor. Texas Hold ’Em doesn’t disappoint and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Craig writes next!

My Review:
This entire series has been fabulous. This is the final book in the series and I love that it ended on a high note with a good story. Austin and Leah are the main couple in this book. The three PI's are still out to get the guy who framed them for murder and sent them to prison for 18 months. That guy just happens to be Leah's older half brother. So Austin moves in next door to her hoping to catch an idea of where her brother is. Instead, he gets caught up in Leah.

Leah doesn't trust guys in general. She doesn't want to get involved as she's been hurt before. But Austin is nothing if not relentless, but I loved that just about everything that goes wrong for him does. This is a guy who is used to having his charm work on women, but Leah is VERY resistant. She's also worried. Her older brother is harassing her about her younger brother. And unfortunately, her younger brother is tired of her overprotective nature so he tends to ignore her checking up on she just worries about him more.

The absolute best part of this story....Austin has a serious cat phobia. After being attacked and left needing many stitches on his side and ear at the age of four, he is terrified of cats and their claws. Well, Leah just happens to be a feline vet with four cats living in her home. The story was filled with cats and Austin was constantly jumping from them while the entire time he was trying to hide that fact from Leah. I seriously was laughing out loud with the scenes between him and the cats, especially when he was breaking into her apartment or when he ends up with his own adopted kitty who likes to snuggle up with him while he's sleeping. Those scenes with him waking up with a cat on his chest had me laughing out loud.

All the characters that have played into the other books make an appearance in the book....yay. And like in the other books, there was a really heart-warming secondary romance that I loved. Overall this has been a great series. They are books you can settle into to read and know that they are going to be pure entertainment. A bonus is that they are set in Texas and that always works for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I have not had the chance to read any work by Christie Craig before, so this was my first taste of her work. I have to say she captured my attention quickly and held on to it for the whole book. Not only is this book full of suspense and drama but a some steamy scenes as well.

I found a quick admiration for Leah Reece. This woman is fiercely protective of her family and will do anything in her power to protect her brother. Leah just doesn’t think she is ready for another relationship, that is until Austin arrives and stirs up some interesting feelings she hasn’t felt in a while. I really liked Leah’s love for cats. I loved her fondness for cats and the fact that Austin is just petrified of them quite humorous. Oh my goodness there is some really funny moments with Austin trying to get away from the cats.

Austin has no plans of becoming involved with Leah. She is just a means to information for him, that is until he actually meets her. I love how these two had NO intentions of forming a relationship but things keep throwing them together. He just wants to get to Rafael DeLuna and get him taken care of.

I loved the drama and suspense in this book. Wow, there was so much happening that I could not turn the pages fast enough. I could not wait to see what was going to happen next or what mess someone was going to have to find their way out of alive.

I have to say that Christie Craig has created a wonderful story full of suspense, drama, romance, and laughter. I enjoyed her writing style and I would certainly enjoy reading more of her work. She has a nice way of drawing a reader into the story line and holding on tight all the way until the end.

Texas Hold’em is part of a series, however I have not had the chance to read them. I didn’t have any problem at all reading this as a stand alone story so if you haven’t had a chance to read them yet either don’t let that stop you. If you enjoy a great romantic suspense story then you should check this one out. I think you will enjoy it. I know I certainly did.

Texas Hold 'Em is the third (and final) book in the Hotter In Texas series by Christie Craig. This book features the third member of the PI business, Austin Brook. Austin and his PI buddies have been working to get their hands on Rafael – the man who framed them for murder and put them behind bars. Austin isn't a very patient man, and he's a little reckless, so he's willing to do whatever it takes to catch their enemy.

Austin moves into an apartment building – right next to Rafael's half sister – in order to get information on where Rafael might be hiding. Austin just didn't expect to be so attracted to her. Leah is a veterinarian who isn't interested in having a man in her life. After having her husband cheat on her, she is convinced that men can't be trusted.

Austin is handsome and cocky – he isn't used to having to chase after a woman. He's used to women falling for his natural charm. Leah proves to be more difficult than he ever imagined. She has built her walls so high that no man can tear them down. After time, Austin finally gets Leah to trust him but he starts to fall for her in the process. He feels guilty for all he has done to deceive her.

I love the storyline about Austin being terrified of cats, and Leah having 4. This brings a lot of entertainment to the book. There were some steamy scenes, but it took a long time to get there. The book focused a lot on the action/suspense part of the story. Austin was a really likable character. Leah was a little harder to like but she wasn't so bad. I almost enjoyed the secondary romance more – between Roberto and Sara. It was more emotion filled.

This book wrapped up the series well. I love the humor in Christie Craig's books. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with some added humor.

PI Austin Brook is convinced that Leah Reece knows something about her half-brother's illegal activities. He is obsessed with taking Rafael DeLuna down and if that means he has to romance a relative, so be it.
Once again we have two romances in one book and I enjoyed both of them. The main romance between Austin and Leah was fairly light and provided much of the humour. Austin who is terrified of cats winds up having to deal with Leah's four little ones. His extreme paranoia with all things feline actually threatens his investigation into DeLuna. Leah has difficulty trusting men as so many have treated her poorly. When things start to get a bit scary though, she realises that she can't deal with everything by herself.

The secondary romance between single mother Sara and Roberto was really poignant. Roberto has his own reasons for taking DeLuna down and tries (but fails) to ignore his attraction for Sara. She, on the other hand, is not sure whether dating is in the best interests of her child. Watching them deal with each other's baggage and support each other was lovely and often drew my attention completely from the main couple.

Austin is the last of the wrongly accused men to fall in love and the theme of justice came through really strongly. Up until this point Austin has been keen on taking revenge on the man who screwed up his career and was pretty blind to everything else. Leah forces him to evaluate whether that will ultimately bring him what he wants or whether there are more important things to focus on. Craig tied up an awful lot of loose ends that have been hanging for the last few books and it was great to see the other couples doing well.

This was a sweet novel injected with lots of humour. It isn't essential to start with the first in the series but I think it would be a shame if you missed them.
