Présentation de l'éditeur

Twenty-six-year-old Rose Devlin may shop in the plus-size department, but she's never had a problem attracting men--with disastrous consequences. Recovering from her latest mistake, Rose has sworn off casual sex and moved to California to grow up, help her best friend, and make something of herself.

When Rose asks the cute-but-geeky guy next door to help her land a job in high tech, she never expects to unearth his quiet strength, stunning accomplishments--and hidden talents.

With a secret in her own past, Rose tries to keep her distance, but she finds that nerdy Mark isn't so nerdy when the lights go out. And that maybe, just maybe, she's not too grown up to risk one more disaster...

I loved all the characters in the book, big busty Rose, and shy Mark.
I couldn't wait for them to get together.......which they finally did.
Lovely read, am off to get the next Gretchen Galway book.

Très bon livre qu'on a du mal à lâcher ; les personnages sont bien campés et l'action est dynamique. Un très bon moment.

4.5 stars, rounding up since this was a free download.
I loved this book for two reasons. First, the hero was a software engineer who was kind of backward socially. He kept doing and saying the wrong thing to the heroine and was kind of oblivious as to what he was doing wrong, which was very endearing. Second, the heroine was plus-sized but instead of having a poor self-image and suffering from a lack of self-esteem as is common in romance when a heroine is a larger size, she was very well-adjusted, socially adept, had an active dating life, and didn't waste time wringing her hands over things. She wore bold clothes, loved to shop, and was girly, yet self-sufficient. I found her to be a refreshing change of pace. The story had a good balance of intensity versus lighter moments, and I had a hard time putting it down. I also loved the setting and since I live in the SF Bay Area, I can say that it was very realistic, right down to the atmosphere at the internet company where they worked. All in all a very enjoyable read.

This book was cute, fun and a quick read. Rose and Mark were both very likeable characters. It was nice to see Liam and Bev again from "Love Handles", but you definitely do not need to have read that book to enjoy this one. I have really enjoyed everything I have read so far from this Gretchen Galway (though my favorite so far is "The Supermodel's Best Friend"). If you are looking for a light-hearted contemporary romance, you can't go wrong with this book-- enjoyable characters and story, good writing, and a great price.

After reading a lot of paranormal and other genres I like to switch it up with a few light funny romances, and I hit a home run with Gretchen Galway! I was fortunate to come across it when it was free, though I would have gladly paid full price for this little piece of gold!

I was caught up from the very beginning. I instantly developed a girl crush on Rose; our busty main lady! She has every quality that you wish you possessed, or at least made you wish you had a friend just like her. Confidence, sense of humor, loyalty, etc. She never took herself too seriously and she was often blasé about her effect on men. She knew she had it but it didn't rule her interaction with others. She was still very sweet and full of substance.

The male lead, Mark, was just so adorable... and awkward! Awkwardly adorable! What he lacked in social grace he made up for in heat. Yeah, he was a hot computer nerd/ child genius who knew how to work it in the bed room. Lol. Don't we all want one of our very own?

Their romance was not rushed, but was not stagnant. In other words it felt like it happened in "real life" (whatever that is...) time. It was believable in that it wasn't instant attraction. There was enough conflict to give this book some real substance, laced with heart warming, and heart breaking moments. Gretchen Galway has a knack for balancing the comedy with the romance and trouble. Each of her characters are equally balanced with flaws and redeeming qualities. Something I admire greatly in an author. I may read fiction but I like the characters to be "human".

I usually like to leave one critique but in all honesty... I can't think of a one :)

I'd like to note that the cover is what first attracted me to the book. I was tired of half naked bodies and mournful/gothic looking teens. *gasp*
Also, I bought another title of hers (The Supermodel's Best Friend) right away, already finished it, and plan on buying another after posting this review. Lol.

A nice sequel and you get to see more of the nerdy guy who is more than he seems. The descriptions of events that happen are a little vague at times. Disliked how Mark kept so much to himself just because he was shy especially since he proved the whole time that he want shy around Rose. Rose and get BFF debacle was interesting but I wished there was a scene that really concluded that everything between them was alright, even though it's obvious by the participation in the scheme at the end.
Overall it was a fun story with several sweet moments as well as typical romcom situations. The only real thing that should be fixed is the attention to detail in the sex scenes which are too careful and take the hotness of the act and should be more committed to the expletive nature the scenes were made of to really compound the sexy factor in order to prove the couple's chemistry.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Charmingly delightful story 3 mai 2013

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are true to life, and you can easily relate to them. The sense of family and love among the characters in Mark's family is very nice to see. The story line flows smoothly, is pleasant to read, and you will end up not wanting to put this book down.

Twenty six year old Rose Devlin is a plus sized woman who has never had trouble getting dates, but with disastrous consequences. She has decided to move to California to start a new life, and help her best friend recover from a romance that ended in pregnancy with the baby's father leaving her.

One day, the battery on Rose's car dies. Rose asks the cute but geeky guy next door to help her jump start her car. From here the sparks start. When Rose happens to mention she needs a job, Mark, the geeky guy, helps her out.

Other than the story itself, which is fantastic, another great part is that Mark is interested in Rose for herself and who she is. This is so unlike most men today who, unless the girl is shaped like Barbie, they will not even give the girl a second glance. These stupid guys just don't know what they are missing out on.

I strongly recommend this book. For those who hate sex scenes, sorry, there are some in this story. It would not be this story without some.
