1.0 étoiles sur 5 Don't waste your time. 30 décembre 2014
Par Steven - Publié sur Amazon.com
The game itself has some good points, but those are vastly overshadowed by an infinite list of things that are just horrifically terrible about the game.

The game is completely ruined by Bots, Hackers, Scripters, and cheaters. The developers do nothing about this. I had played the game during the American Beta (The game has been live in Russia and Korea for years) and also played for a month after the game launched in the states.

The "choose your own class" thing is complete garbage. You get to choose three skill trees out of I think like, 10 total skill trees. These trees each have very very little synergy at all between them, and there are like, maybe a dozen actually useable classes that aren't just utter crap.

The questing is terrible. In order to "identify" your rewards, you have to spend "labor" which you can only get buy either paying real money for Labor Potions, or just waiting. If you aren't a patron, you have to be ONLINE in order to generate labor at ONE Labor per MINUTE. Patrons get double the amount while logged in, and 1 LP per minute while logged out, and also have a 250% increased labor cap.

See a mining node? That's 5-20 labor you have to spend to mine it. Literally every action in the game takes labor. Kill a mob and want to loot it? That will cost you labor. Mobs do not drop items, they drop "pouches" and in order to open the pouches you have to spend labor. Questing and leveling is insanely grindy. You can learn and level all talent trees on one character, but doing so is insanely boring and unfun.

There is literally NO LAND left. All of the farmable and buildable land was gone within the first week of the game launching. I know because I didn't get any land because I didn't pay for the headstart.

There is no PvE. There are like, 8 dungeons, and they are all super lame and pointless to run.

The entire game is just bad in every way. I had extremely high hopes for this game. I could go on and on and on for hours about this, but I'm just going to end it here.

Do not bother with this game. It is utter trash. I wish I could give it 0 stars.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Good game but poorly managed 27 novembre 2014
Par Filthyclyde - Publié sur Amazon.com
The graphics in Archeage are outstanding and the game is interesting. You can acquire lots of stuff and work for it. The end game content will be PvP sieges and pirating and that sort of thing. The other reviewer said that all the land is taken up and this is sort of true. However, in Archeage, Trion uses Hackshield Pro and this tool is defective. If you disconnect and reconnect multiple times, the system thinks you are hacking and will ban you permanently. There is no due process and the only appeal is to an automated system. According to Trion on the forums, they recently banned 17,000 players and seem to be proud of that. Any time something like that happens, any reasonable person would conclude the system is broken. These 17,000 players, unable to pay their taxes, will lose their accumulated stuff including their houses and land. Thus there will be a lot of land up for grabs soon.
Personally, if I were not already playing the game, I would not start. Anything you pay for and anything you gain can be forfeited at any time by an automatic hack shield program if your connection goes bad.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 New players beware: THERE IS NO LAND LEFT IN ARCHEAGE!! 6 novembre 2014
Par Xabu - Publié sur Amazon.com
Although many of the MMO aspects of AA are nothing new, the crafting/farming/trading aspect makes the game intriguing. The graphics are outstanding and there are many well done nuances to the world to allow for full game immersion. Building fast clipper ships, merchant trading vessels (or warships) and braving the high (PvP) seas as a merchant, mercenary or pirate all make the game unique and fun to play, but the heart of the game is crafting, trade and commerce. In order to get the full functionality and enjoyment out the game, you need at least a small plot of land (8x8) where you can safely farm the materials you need to craft, trade, and sell a ton of stuff. Here's the catch: THERE IS NO LAND LEFT IN ARCHEAGE!! I was on a relatively new server with a relatively low population, and after hours and days of hunting for an available plot of land, I found nothing (I'm not unique; this sad song has been sung by many a player). Apparently during the Beta and early days of the release, there was a huge land grab; some players/guilds own several plots of land creating a land monopoly, which essentially shuts out new players. If you can't find land you have to use either a public farm (which is very restrictive and subject to player theft) or rely on a guild or friend to let you use theirs. Trion will happily charge you the $15/month patron fee, but they do not guarantee you full game functionality, so they're essentially perpetrating fraud. It's kind of like paying full price for a car and only getting two wheels. As such, I'd recommend staying with a free-to-play account, which unlocks about 70% of the game content. That said, that's about all you get with a paid ("Patron") account since there is no land left to new players, so why pay real money?

Perhaps if Trion develops a queue that eventually allowed one to at least get a 16x16 farm, then it might be worth sticking with a patron account. It would make more sense, however, to open up more land to new players (there appears to be broad expanses of land not being used for anything). I would be willing to (dare I say) use instanced zones for housing and farms just so I could get full game functionality.

I queried Trion about these issues and ideas, and never received a reply on my ticket. The only advice I've received recommended I search and wait for a land plot to default due to a lapse in taxes...Gee, thanks Trion. I guess spending 90% of your "game" time randomly searching the entire world for hours on end waiting for another player's plot of land to default is what passes for a good time? Sounds like tons-o-fun! I think I'll give my money to Blizzard.
