Présentation de l'éditeur

The aliens say they come in peace...

When the emissaries from the Galactic Federation arrive on Earth, humanity is astonished to learn of the populated universe outside Earth’s atmosphere. A peaceful federation of a thousand alien races, united in peace and harmony, is just waiting for the human race to abandon its warlike impulses and join the Federation. A brave new destiny awaits the human race...

But there are odd points about the Federation, little pieces of evidence that suggest a far darker motive for visiting Earth. As an unlikely band of heroes struggles to form a resistance against the alien threat, Earth’s fate hangs in the balance – and defeat may mean the end of everything.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Trojan Horse was a Learning Experience in Bad Writing 1 juillet 2014

Like "Learning Experience", "Trojan Horse" is more interested in politics than well-developed science fiction. As many reviewers have noted, a strong political point of view is fine if it helps shape the story and gives depth to the characters. Unfortunately, neither of these stories avoids "ranting", and Mr. Nuttall's writing suffers for it. The "Ark Royal" series - of which I've read the first two - are cool, subtle stories with well-crafted drama and a throw-back feel similar to Golden Age classics. These two novels are so radically different, it is a shame. Other reviews say it in greater detail, but suffice it to say these two novels are full of bile, stereotypes, and shallowness.

Mr. Nuttall can write well, but you won't experience his full talent by reading "The Trojan Horse". Skip it.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 not up to Chris' normal standard 26 avril 2014

I have read about 10 other Nuttell novels, and this one is disappointing.

Starts out very strong... the first 1/3-1/2 of the book are well written, and keep you engaged.

Finally, Chris reveals the true plan of the invaders. And it is all down hill from there. The country spirals down to destruction in about a chapter.

And than the story just plain ends. All the loose ends are wrapped up in one chapter, and the solution to the most desperate foe the world has ever seen is a handful of men, a half baked plan, and a nuclear weapon that the "Colonel" just happens to know how to hot wire. Sure.

Chris should have made the book at least a couple more hundred pages to detail how the country slowly recognizes the truth of the invaders. He just glosses over that, and the country goes from everyone loving them to everyone hating them in 1 page.

An easy read that keeps your attention even though it is a little transparent. The ending is predicable and abrupt. Some cliches become redundant. A few words were miss used causing me to believe that the editing or proofreading were lax. However I enjoyed the story and appreciated the "warning". Really, if you enjoy reading about various perspective on "alien invasions" you'll have fun. It's not deep, it's not rocket science, but it does put a different focus on the survivalist culture and who we should be worried about.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Ignore the Critics - This is a Solid 5 Star Alien Invasion Story 27 décembre 2015

Ignore the Critics - This is a Solid 5 Star Alien Invasion Story. This is one of those rare books that I just didn't want to end. It was action and adventure from start to finish. Excellent character development too with well developed heroes as well as villains. I think perhaps the critics of this book fall into two broad camps, first, the people who actually read the book and saw themselves identifying with the backstabbing collaborators who would have sold out their friends, relatives and fellow humans. The second group of critics doubtless consists of liberals who have never read this book, but saw some negative reviews and took the opportunity to attack the author as someone who disagrees with their political and world view. Anyone who enjoyed Tom Clancy's Without Remorse or Vince Flynn's Term Limits will love this book.
4.0 étoiles sur 5 Will we survive our first contact with galactic aliens? 2 juin 2016

Strong premise and outcomes with our contact from off planet. Story developed well. Could be slow and tedious. If you enjoy details to build the background this story by Nuttall does that very well. I found myself needing to skip over the tedium. Overall it is an excellent premise and very well could be how we will meet our galactic neighbors. It also makes many assumptions as a whole that are long on odds occurring as a whole. I enjoy fast paced action packed space opera or outstanding heroes and heroines. This is a novel that does not accomplish this end. Thus the reason I can only give it 4 stars.
