Revue de presse

The young want stories that do not lie about the shadows under beds and bridges - and in human hearts. TROLLHUNTERS teaches us about both kinds. About true friendship, grim and slimy heroes, the strength of outsiders- and the courage it takes to face everyday life --Cornelia Funke, author of INKHEART

The gruesome text, paired with ghoulish illustrations, makes for a fantastic adventure in an underground kingdom that's just a dangerous as the trials and tribulations of middle school. I'm never looking under my bed again --Tony DiTerlizzi, bestselling author & co-creator of THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES --Ce texte fait référence à l'édition Broché .

Présentation de l'éditeur

"You are food. Those muscles you flex to walk, lift, and talk? They're patties of meat topped with chewy tendon. That skin you've paid so much attention to in mirrors? It's delicious to the right tongues, a casserole of succulent tissue. And those bones that give you the strength to make your way in the world? They rattle between teeth as the marrow is sucked down slobbering throats. These facts are unpleasant but useful. There are things out there, you see, that don't cower in holes to be captured by us and cooked over our fires. These things have their own ways of trapping their kills, their own fires, their own appetites."

Jim Sturges is your typical teen in suburban San Bernardino-one with an embarrassingly overprotective dad, a best friend named "Tubby" who shares his hatred of all things torturous (like gym class), and a crush on a girl who doesn't know he exists. But everything changes for Jim when a 45-year old mystery resurfaces, threatening the lives of everyone in his seemingly sleepy town. Soon Jim has to team up with a band of unlikely (and some un-human) heroes to battle the monsters he never knew existed.

From the minds of Guillermo del Toro and Daniel Kraus comes a new illustrated novel about the fears that move in unseen places.

The book that inspired Dreamworks Animation's Trollhunters, an all new Netflix original series.

Great children's book or if you like books about fantasy. Lots of trolls and troll hunters fighting and tearing up neighbourhoods.

The book begins with two young boys playing on bikes after one’s birthday party in 1969. Jack just turned 13 and he and his younger brother, Jimbo, are playing the hero and mad scientist when Jack vanishes beneath a bridge, the only evidence, his new bike bent and broken. Jim sees something that cannot be real and he runs home in fear. Years later, Jim is grown up and works for a electronics firm and what he saw that evening in ’69 has him living in fear still, locking the house with a series f locks on the doors and metal shutters that lock down the windows. So nothing can get in. Except his teenage son will discover his father is not crazy and that monsters are real—not existing in closets, but able to come up from below. That San Bernardino, California has an underground city of trolls.

It’s hard enough being a teenager in the 21st century, with a bully who is also a football and basketball champ, the Math teacher making your life hell, and the new girl in the school from the British Isles makes your heart beat fast. So when Jim Junior and his best friend, Tubby find out trolls are real and not all are evil, but yet, there are evil, child eating ones too in his town, and they are pulled into this battle, surviving high school and the town’s annual festival is not the only thing they have to worry about.

This is the kind of story I enjoyed reading as a kid. Though there is some slightly gory things (trolls being what they are), I think a middle school kid can handle it. It may not be Halloween or October, but this is a summer dark fantasy read not only teenagers and middle schools kids will enjoy, but adults too. Just be sure to check beneath your bed or couch before you do.

It was a great bedtime history for my kiddos. Altough the writing is not that agile and immersive there's a sense of melancoly and remminiscense that originates from the developing characters which doesnt finish to convice at all. I hate spoiling so I'm just gonna say it has potential for a better sequel and I believe that there is a netflix coming.

ow what an amazing book written from one of the best filmmaker ever. Book had an awesome beginning and ending. I just couldn't put it down. Loved the whole troll story idea and having a human family being the trollhunters to keep all humans save. Each character was very important in the book. They were all able to get together and do what was right to save everyone. The plot of this book was great hoping it becomes a movie. What I loved most was that the story was being told by James who is the son of Jim who had lost his brother in a strange encounter. Fooled me at the beginning thinking that Jim was telling the story. You don't want to miss this amazing book with out of the box ideas, innovations and thrilling.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Kids vs. giant trolls mixed with horror and humor! 10 août 2015

Guillermo del Toro's name drew me to this title, but literally every other thing about it kept me there. It's a fantasy adventure starring kids that feels like an homage to Goonies, Explorers and Lost Boys. One character is named AAARGH! That would've sold me on the book, right there. The story is about monsters and people who fight them, and it has the familiar structure of the movies I mentioned. A kid becomes a part of a hidden world where stuff tries to kill him, and meets buddies who help him not be killed. In addition to the story, a few illustrated pages make the whole thing burst forth. Del Toro and co-creator Daniel Kraus have created a thrilling setting with Del Toro's signature style: horror mixed with humor. Come to this book for AAARGH! But you'll stay for everything else.
