No less than the meaning of life is the topic that Dr Wood tackles so brilliantly in his non-fiction book "The Trouble with Paradise," where Wood explores mankind’s evolutionary development, our current situation as humans, and why it is that we, the top predator and most sophisticated species on Earth, have so much trouble being happy.

With his vast knowledge of world history, religious thought, evolutionary theory, and his sensitive understanding of the nature of human beings, Dr Wood has been able to create a book that is monumental in its form. While he educates us about the past, he brings us on his own personal journey to traverse the troubles of our 21st Century and work to build an oasis where we can thrive in the future.

Dr Wood is one of those rare authors who can write about evolution, biology, and physics with a sense of humour, and discuss philosophy and sociology with literary flair. It is that his writing is a joy to read that makes "The Trouble with Paradise" such a treasure. Like Joseph Campbell, Wood has suceeded in translating erudite subjects into stories that today's reader can enjoy. After each chapter, you will hopefully be a little wiser, see a little clearer, and feel more light-hearted about your world and times to come.
