Présentation de l'éditeur

Millions of readers around the world have fallen in love with Melody Grace’s USA Today bestselling contemporary romances. Discover the passion and romance waiting in Beachwood Bay…

"My mother always told me there are two kinds of love in this world: the steady breeze and the hurricane. Emerson Ray was my hurricane..."

Juliet McKenzie was an innocent eighteen-year old when she spent the summer in Beachwood Bay--and fell head over heels in love with Emerson. Complicated, intense Emerson, the local bad boy. His blue eyes hid dark secrets, and just one touch could set Juliet ablaze. Their love was demanding and all-consuming, but when summer ended, tragedy tore them apart. Juliet swore she'd never go back, and she's kept that promise... Until now.

Four years later, Juliet's done her best to rebuild the wreckage of her shattered life. She's got a great boyfriend, and a steady job planned after she graduates. Returning to Beachwood to pack up her family's beach house to prepare it for sale, Juliet is determined that nothing will stand in the way of her future. But one look from Emerson, and all her old desire comes flooding back. He let her go once, but this time, he's not giving up without a fight. And Emerson fights dirty.

A heartbreaking history. An unstoppable passion. Torn between her past and future, Juliet struggles to separate love from desire. But will they find a way to overcome their tragic secrets--together? And after so much damage has been done, can a love remain unbroken?

Une histoire sympathique, plutôt bien écrite, mais qui s'adresse plus à un public "harlequin" qu'à des adolescents contrairement à l'impression que donne la couverture.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 I did not like it. Like at all. 2 mars 2017

It's been a while since I rated a book with so few stars. I really can't remember the last book that disappointed me so much.

I struggled a lot while reading it and I almost DNF it. My mother-in-law recommended it to me and I had high hopes I'll enjoy it.

I can't even find words to describe how much I didn't like it. It's hard. Really.

So, the story dragged for too much, from the very beginning to the long-awaited ending we get to pity Juliet. This book is so FULL of angst and Juliet feels only pain and disappointment, when she's not busy about fantasizing about her first big love. She never got over him and now she gets another chance to see him again. Even if she went to college and met a good, sweet guy, Daniel, she still suffers from the biggest disappointment: he ended things and broke her heart. Like really bad.

I found SO many cheesy scenes. I rolled my eyes A LOT while reading it because I really couldn't connect to Juliet's thoughts, or actions. We get only her POV, some scenes from the past, 4 years ago actually. Oh and some of the dialogues got me really bored.

I kept on reading because I still hoped something will happen to rise my interest, but it only got worse, with all her panic attacks, her crying that never ended AND the "big surprise", which was not so big and not even close of making me understand, or forgive Emerson...

I'm really sorry for not being able to find at least one good thing about it. Maybe some of the hot scenes, but they were only a few, and felt too rushed and happening at a wrong time. They didn't really got a chance to speak their minds OR at least try to mend things.

I can't remember the last time I felt such a HUGE relief after finishing a book or sticking with a story that was definitely not my cup of tea.

These were your classic Young Adult series, but were pretty interesting. Eighteen-year old Juliet goes through life trying to control the panic attacks that plague her. Her father is a closet alcoholic and cheater. Her mother hangs on to a loveless marriage for who-knows-why and her older sister is looking to bag her next wealthy fiancee so she can play trophy wife. Juliet's mother drags them off to one last summer vacation at their beach cottage in Beachwood Bay. Juliet reluctantly goes knowing after the summer's over, she can leave for college and put her dismal life behind her. But of course, that won't happen after she meets resident bad boy Emerson Ray. His piercing blue eyes seem to look right through her, and they cross paths during the most unfortunately circumstances when Emerson has to pick up his drugged-out mother in Juliet's presence. Only Juliet is the first one that understands what it's like to have to play parent to their parents. Things progress hot, heavy and quick between Emerson and Juliet. But then, tragedy strikes. Juliet's mom dies, and that same day, Emerson tells Juliet he can't handle all of this emotional stuff, hey, it's been fun, but see you later. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot! Juliet can't believe he's throwing everything away between them. Many harsh words are said, and with that, Juliet leaves Beachwood Bay vowing to never return or ever speak to Emerson again. Now on to book two... fast forward four years. It took Juliet two years of meds and a kick-ass best friend, Lacey, to push past the pain of having Emerson walk out on her. But Juliet must return to Beachwood Bay to pack up the beloved beach house that's been in her family for generations as her dad wants it sold. Juliet can't help the anxiety of running into "him"... does he still even live there? Sure enough, their paths cross. Anger and fury emanate off both of them, but it doesn't take long for those sparks to ignite an inferno again. Oh yeah, Juliet has a stuffy Oxford-shirt-wearing boyfriend. Daniel who? Anyway, things get really messy between Juliet, Emerson and Daniel. Who does she really want? And if she picks Emerson, will he finally commit and not walk out on her again? Cute, quick reads. There are two more books in the series that deal with Emerson's sister, Brit.
3.0 étoiles sur 5 Horrible "hero" and a mess of a heroine. 24 juillet 2017

Unbroken is the wrong title for this book because the two main characters are both so terribly broken that even together they're, well, terrible.

Emerson is a horrible character. He's hotheaded and, quite frankly, a jerk. I don't really care that she loves him, he actually treats her like trash throughout the story, to the point I wanted her to knee him in the balls and run off with Daniel because he was actually a GOOD human.

Sadly, I'm intrigued to find out about Brit so I'm trying a little more. Hopefully the author will embrace a dual POV because only having Juliet's thoughts really hurt this novel, I think. Maybe I wouldn't have disliked Emerson as much if I knew what the heck he was thinking.

(This review was originally written in 2013 but never posted).
I added this book to my GoodReads To-Read list when I first heard about it. I didn't realize that I had Melody Grace on Facebook until she started posting about the book going live on Amazon. I bought it on my Kindle within the hour and spent the next three and half reading it. I was instantly pulled in. This was a book that I didn't want to put down. I read the entire thing really quickly.

It was very well written (with the exception of some errors along the way) and the characters were easy to get to know. As I stated already, the story itself was easy to fall into and I completely lost myself in it. The setting was beautiful to imagine and actually kind of reminded me of a little tourist beach town that I experienced with my dad and my sister one summer in North Carolina.

I would definitely read this book again, even if it was just for the sexy, brooding Emerson. ;)

Rating: 4 Stars.

I expected more from this book especially considering the novella was so good. But these two really get nothing resolved. There is so much that goes into going the Kong haul with someone that has more than just chemistry and I'm not convinced from this writing that this couple would understand that. I'm going to read another since I didn't pat for it and I already have it but I really hope its better.
