3.0 étoiles sur 5 More transition pieces, with a bridge 22 juin 2012

This set is just ok. It keeps with the idea of two sided tiles. One side is unfinished caverns typical of the Underdark. The other side are almost all what I call "transition" pieces, that move the characters from unfinished cavern-like areas to finished dungeons. There's very little flexibility with just the six pages, and I would say that you would need 2 or even 3 copies to make a dungeon of any decent size with just this set (also typical of WotC Dungeon tiles). I was hoping for more with a title like "The Urban Underdark"--something more evocative of settings like "Thunderspire Labyrinth" or "Halls of Undermountain", so 3 stars from me. You can easily combine this with the Master Tile set for "The Dungeon," though, to make bigger maps--that's where I would start if this is a first-time purchase for you, rather than buying 2 or 3 copies of this product.

I'm a little disappointed with this set of Dungeon Tiles. With a title of "Urban Underdark" I was expecting tiles more related to the Underdark cities. Instead, what we get is more of an add-on to the previously released cavern sets (which isn't a bad thing!). A rough list of what's included are:

* Some pretty useful passage way tiles.
* Tiles to build a large cavern room
* Some tiles that transition from cavern floor to dungeon floor
* A 2x8 tile that transitions from outdoors to the cavern
* A 2x2, 2x4 and a 4x4 lava pit
* A 2x4, 4x4, 4x8 tiles with a cliff (looks like a 5 foot drop)
* Two 1x1 and a 2x2 pit
* Several tiles containing mushrooms
* A 2x2 nest with 3 eggs
* A 1x2 stack of barrels
* A 2x2 pool
* A 1x1 cauldron

The sample dungeon for this set only requires one set. Overall, I say this will be a useful set to add-on to my previous cavern tiles.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 If you already have cavern tiles, get it. Otherwise, pass. 14 juillet 2012

Although you could probably use this set stand-alone, it strikes me as much more of an addition pack for the already released caverns set. That's not necessairly a bad thing, since this set fixes the problem caverns set had where it did not contain many large pieces without bloody bodies or water, but it does make the set fairly unexciting.

Like previous sets the quality of the materials and artwork is high and the tiles are durable enough to last for many play sessions. If you plan to do a lot of underground/underdark I would recommend picking up one ot two sets of these tiles (for transitions, making large rooms, and for details like camp fires) and at least one set of the previous cavern set (for hallways/passaged and underground water).
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent Addition To Any Collection 14 septembre 2012

The Dungeon Tiles from Wizards of the Coast are produced using quality standards, and these are no exception. (I have had at least one sheet of tiles from another set separate, however, I suspect that to be a fluke as I had two sets of those tiles and only one separated)

There are plenty of sizes to allow for different configurations and enough transitional pieces (outdoors to Underdark, dungeon to Underdark) to make them easily combined with sets already produced.

In a turn of events, Wizards of the Coast decided to build the sample maps using only one set of tiles, presumably because customers complained, but seriously who in their right mind could make a complete playable map using only one set of Dungeon Tiles? I typically buy two of the sets at a time, but if you have a bunch of Underdark (such as Caves of Carnage, or Lost Caverns of the Underdark) then you can probably get away with only one of these.

Either way, you will want to have this set in your collection, it will help to expand your campaigns above ground as well as in the Underdark.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 A little repetitive, but great for my needs! 3 juillet 2012

Like previous reviewers mentioned, there really isn't anything super new or awesome wth this set, however it does have a nice few flavor peices like the eggs and barrels.

For my needs, it's perfect, I like to set up giant tile maps ahead of time on plexiglass and keep them stacked so when my players change levels I just swap out the sheet, so for me, repetitve is good because I go a little nuts with my dungeons.

As always, the quality of the tiles is very nice, and I hope WOTC keeps making these. Would be GREAT for a "roofs" set (rather then the box art for the city set) but I'm not holding my breath. A gal can dream though...
