As someone who does not want to showcase his kitchen with a large, intrusive meat grinder, this particular model fits the bill space-wise, but also economically - in up-front cost. I wanted a device that can process beef into burgers, withstand breakage, be easy to wash and break down to store, and inexpensive. After my first processing of chuck roast into ground beef for a hamburger casserole, I can say that this was the right choice for me. My only recommendation is that because it is composed of plastic, it is better to err on the side of gentleness. Also, because of the way the meat feeds itself from the hopper into the grinding screw and cutter, the grinder does much better with narrow strips of meat. The length does not matter. When the width of the meat is sufficiently narrow to be picked up by the screw-feeder, it should also be of the correct width to process the meat without undue force on the turning handle. Some readings indicate finger-width strips of meat. I was able to process strips somewhat thicker. Because of this feeding trait, the actual size of the clear hopper is irrelevant. Just feed one strip at a time through the hopper and directly into the rotating feeding screw.
In my first processing experience, a chuck roast from Vons pre-trimmed of all visible fat and ligament, still yields a good amount of rendered fat upon browning. A sirloin steak being leaner, would render up less fat. And after my first taste of the ground and cooked beef, I thought how "clean" the taste was, and how it lacked the odd mouth-feel of unidentifiable parts (like gristle, tendons, and possibly worse stuff). I'm pretty confident that your ground beef-eating experiences will be much more enjoyable with this product.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 If you make burgers often, then you should invest in this grinder for bacon burgers 8 août 2014

I grind a 12 ounce pack of hickory smoked bacon and add it to 2 pounds of ground chuck to make the most YUM-AZING burgers anyone has ever had in their lives. Why do restaurants not do this?!? That's all I've used it for thus far, and for that alone it is worth the money. I like, too, how it does well in the dishwasher and stores in a very tiny space. The suction on the bottom is an issue, have yet to use it without the suction not working, but I can live with that because I use it for just a couple of minutes and I don't use it for heavy grinding so I just re-suction it when it comes loose and continue on.

My wife loves this little machine. However, I also bought it because the Amazon ad said it could make pasta. It also says that there are two pasta attachments that come with the machine when you purchase it. Not true. There are no pasta attachments and there is not even a reference to pasta on the box. If you take the time to look at the pictures on this site there are no pasta attachments shown. Also, no directions come in the box. The directions are on the outside of the box. It grinds turkey though very nicely.

Uh-Oh! Was eager to get this meat grinder as I have just recently discovered that ground pork burgers are delicious and I also wanted to grind some beef for hamburgers. I first had difficulty in turning the handle to lock the suction, but then I have some arthritis in hands, so figured that was just me. I did finally get the suction applied and it stuck great! I had read reviews, so had partially frozen pork, cut it into smaller bits and started grinding. It didn't take long to discover that grizzle gets hung up, but no horrible thing: just had to clean the tough portions out of the metal parts but still was hopeful. However, after grinding about 2 oz., the screw part holding the choppers in place broke....... Needless to say, I am very disappointed to just throw the pieces in the trash, so am still looking for a meat grinder that works.

Have used for grinding chicken thigh meat and beef strips for raw catfood. Did the job just fine. Stayed secure on the counter and worked well at grinding the meat without getting clogged. Clean up (by hand) was easy. Besides a final wash with dish detergent, I use a peroxide and vinegar mix to initially clean all items that come in contact with raw meat.
I can see pasta making might be easier with this than my other machine, so will be giving that a try as well. Not sure how this will hold up over time vs. heavier metal grinders, but those aren't made like they used to be either. For the price, I recommend this grinder.
