Présentation de l'éditeur

Updated Fall 2016

Improve your writing and enhance your creativity with the power of imagery.

Let's face it. Some authors write so beautifully with such vivid description that it makes you question your own abilities. You want to write compelling books, but sometimes it feels like you got the short end of the creativity stick. What if you could tap into an unknown source of writing eloquence that's present in every human mind? What if one book could give you the tools you need to write descriptions that jump right off the page?

What many struggling writers forget is that humans are visual creatures. Because "seeing" is a more natural way to express, we're drawn to imagery for inspiration. Vanquish Writer's Block allows you to tap into the power of photos to give you a new perspective and renewed creative energy.

Attacking Creativity From the Side

Albert Einstein once said, "I live my daydreams in music." He and other famous creatives often turned to seemingly unrelated creative endeavors to help them when they were stuck. He called this the "combinatory play" of the mind. Using Einstein's methodology, author Nancy Hendrickson provides you with impressive imagery to use as a creative function in your writing. By stepping outside of words and using imagery and other creative outlets, you'll add depth, color, and vibrancy to your writing.

Through the use of Nancy's book, your jealousy of "beautiful writing" will fade as you create your own rich tapestry of words. Soon enough, you'll be the author other writers are envious of. Let Nancy show you the way.

Vanquish Writer's Block is a new approach to get you out of your writing funk and into a creative flow state. Nancy's latest book is quirky, stimulating, thought-provoking, and unconventional. Use it to fill your head with incredible ideas.

Buy Vanquish Writer's Block today to take your writing to a whole new level!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 How to Creatively Dissolve Writer's Block 13 février 2013

Beautiful, disarming, well written book on how a professional writer creatively counters writer's block. Author Nancy Hendrickson lays bare her insecurities and strengths to help other writers creatively counter their stuck-in-the-mud writing frustrations. Instead of the same-old, same-old, set a timer and write, assign yourself a task, etc., etc., she goes for the right brained "fun" approach...look at images, take a walk...check a deck of oracle cards...take photos...and explains how each can trigger the creative process while balancing in the "left" brain. Highly recommended. A must have for every writer.

A must-have book for every writer in the world. A new approach I am already using to write better and overcome my laziness.

Sure I had heard some of this before, but I found the author's presentation to be unique, effective and genius! At first I thought it to be a bit wacky to be using taro cards for discovering a new perspective but once the author explained the method I found to be brilliant and something I now will use in my creative inspiration as I write - everything from character development to plot and setting. This is all new to me but a brilliant approach.

It was fascinating to see how the author used images to spark ideas for new writing and completing a piece of the story.

I also loved all the brain hacks to combat writer's block (Omega 3 my literary brain's new best friend!)

Writer's block no more! Thanks to this book.

I listened to Nancy on the Creative Penn podcast and loved what she had to say. Because of the interesting conversation between Nancy and Joanna, I purchased, The Visual Writer. I wasn't disappointed.

In the book were several suggestions of how to write more, with more depth. It's caused me to look around with a different view, in order to come up with writing ideas.

Pictures can inspire and with the intention to do so, I'll be a better writer.

I gave this book a five-star rating because of the ideas and ways to become a better writer.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Not the usual 'just write more' pep talk... 5 février 2015

I found this book helpful for wheedling out the REASONS I've been feeling so jammed-up lately and ways to get myself out of the funk. So many books talk about plotting or forcing yourself to write, but this book blended a variety of techniques to use visual prompts to enrich your writing, compared with some interesting interviews with authors who've experienced serious blocks and moved past it. My favorite was to write a letter to my character and let him write back (and forth) to get to the root of the problem.

As a non-fiction author I sometimes find myself at a loss for words with no idea why, or what to do next. I have read about and tried various time management techniques, strategies to beat procrastination, and a number of other suggestions along those lines, but none have really been effective. After reading this book I finally have more insight into the cause of my difficulties and some different, and very creative, ideas on how to tackle them!

In addition to that, having always wanted to, (and doubted that I could), write fiction, I believe that some of these techniques could even inspire me enough to take the leap and 'give it a go'. Thanks to the author for sharing her knowledge, experience and insight in order to assist others! Highly recommended!
