The shipment arrived with no packing slip and in a large box with loosely and randomly stuffed packing papers. The box was not the original one from Voyage-Air as it had no manufacturer's logo. Without the packing slip, I can only guess that it might have been a returned item mistakenly shipped out as an delivery item, as the two keys for the truss rod and the detachable protective back of the carry bag were all missing. In addition, the edge of the pick guard was unevenly chamfered.
I have a replacement shipped to me in two days after an online chat with Amazon Customer Service representative, and that was quick.
My suggestion to Voyage-Air is that you owe it to your customers to at least include a pickup for the OM-C as this model to start with, has a much smaller sound box than VAD Models, and, with a cut out, it reduces the high frequency resonation and volume almost by half comparing to the OMs models. Another suggestion is to put some better tuners as the quality of locking mechanism is highly questionable and substandard comparing to other brands of equal values. With the guitar being kept unfolded for three days, I have to tune them daily. The knob turns loosely and seems to bounce back when turning, making tuning an extremely painful exercise.
I added a K&K transducer pickup, switched out the tuners with drop in replacement Grover auto locking tuners and had the set up tweaked at my favorite luthier.
Now this guitar is such a delight to play and the sound and tone just outstanding.
Even without the amazing folding neck system designed for easy travel, I would rate this guitar up there with the top line Taylors, Martins and Larrivees.
The negatives are the finish is not as great as a Taylor or Martin - however it is made from fine tonewoods, though in China, but to the inventor & master luthier Harvey Leach's specifications. And at a fraction of his custom made guitar prices.
Check out the reviews on line for this guitar - you will be pleasantly surprised. Customer support (if needed) is local California and very friendly.
And Amazon have got some great deals going.
On the up side, when it works, it works well and sports rich tone and good playability. The instrument itself has a nice rosette and bindings, and doesn't have the nasal sound of instruments built from composite materials.
Additionally, the VOAM-2C, a guitar touted to be in their premiere line, does not include any electronics. I ended up buying a Fishman in-hole pickup to get me past this challenge, but again - Voyage Air should have an option to include something like a LR Baggs M-80 (or equivelent) pickup. So, unless you're mic'd abiently or put in a pickup system you've got a guitar that is not gig-ready.
Voyage Air really needs to work these design flaws out and stand behind their products when we spend the amount of money they're demanding for this product.
