Présentation de l'éditeur

Dashing counterspy Alex Hawke must rescue a kidnapped American scientist as the United States and China move dangerously close to all-out nuclear war in this adrenaline-fueled thriller in the New York Times bestselling series that combines the hallmarks of Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Ian Fleming, and Daniel Silva.

When an elderly professor at Cambridge is murdered, a victim of bizarre, ancient Chinese torture, Alex Hawke teams up with his Scotland Yard colleague and friend Inspector Ambrose Congreve to find the killer. But the death is only the opening move in a tense and lethal game of geopolitical brinksmanship.

In the United States the president has begun behaving strangely. Is his mental health deteriorating—or is there something far more sinister behind his questionable moves? The answer is crucial, for tensions are mounting between China, North Korea, and the U.S. And China has launched fighter jets and a mega submarine vastly more sophisticated than any seen before—military technology that leapfrogs anything the U.S. and Great Britain possess.

With the situation edging toward an unthinkable abyss, Hawke must pull off his most daring mission yet: infiltrate the China and neutralize the source of their advantage . . . or risk witnessing World War III.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Nostradamus Bell 30 mai 2014

"Warriors" is Ted Bell's eighth Alex Hawke novel, and in my opinion, his best yet. It's the first in the series with a plural title and the first with a Alex Hawke depiction on the cover, but it picks right up where his last Hawke novel, "Phantom," left off.

I titled this review "Nostradamus Bell" not only because Ted presents some pretty "end of civilization" situations, but also because his plot runs so close to what COULD be happening now, that it's scary.

Ted starts "Warriors" in Washington, D.C., but the plot runs around the world as Alex Hawke and his band of brothers tackle a number of situations, in the U.S., in Asia, in England, and at sea.

A number of authors hesitate to kill of major reoccuring characters, leaving you with the idea that "well, he'll make it out..." Not so with Ted Bell; he's not affraid to kill a character you've seen in past books.

In a prior life I was a Coast Guard officer, and I found the scenes involving the Coast Guard to be spot-on.

I don't want to give away too much. In "Warriors" the dashing Alex Hawke had less time for sex because he needed more time for killing the bad guys. I've read evey Alex Hawke novel, and I'm not sure I remember a challenge of this magnitude, with the world so close to an absolute shift, than I saw in "Warriors."

"Warriors" was an easy read that kept me on the edge of my seat. My heart racing, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. And when I got to the final page all I could think is "Ted, write another book ASAP, I cannot stop reading this cold-turkey."

I hightly recommend "Warriors" for anyone who likes a realistic, timely, cuttinge-edge, action-filled triller. Ted Bell is at the top of my list of authors, and the Alex Hawke spy thrillers get a special spot on my book shelf.

When you pick up a novel from Ted Bell be sure you are going to finish it. Always a page turner. Being with Alex Hawke and his friends makes you feel you are with them every second, whether anywhere in the world, At home, or at war you have to see what comes next. On to "The Patriot". Looking forward to another adventure.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Ted Bell is at His Best - AGAIN! An Exceptional Book that MUST BE Read! 27 avril 2016

Ted Bell has taken the British Warrior to another level with this masterpiece series of books in this set.

This novel is one book in a collective, ongoing set that details the exploits of an anti-terrorism team. The book is part of an action-packed series by which the main character(s) work together to fight terrorists attempting to cause global mayhem and mass murder all over the globe. Using a unique knowledge of tradecraft, history, tactics, and technique, Ted Bell is able to tell a tremendous story that sucks readers in and doesn't let them go. Once you start reading, the book will not be put down until you are done with the novel and reaching for the next book in the series.

Truly a MASTERCLASS writer with ALL the goods. Ted Bell has done it AGAIN.

I HIGHLY recommend this book AND this series to EVERYONE!

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Erratic, overdone, and boring 22 avril 2014

The author seems obsessed with England and Cambridge, endlessly detailing everything from affectations to conversations as though he were trying to win a bet about how much fluff he could insert into a paragraph. It comes at great expense to the story itself. Halfway through reading, I honestly had to stop and recall the point of the book and the major conflict. Something about China and a Chinese woman named Chyna, which I'm sure someone thought was hilarious but is way too silly for a novel trying (sort of) to be serious. Chapters are meandering vignettes for particular characters that do little to advance a very weak narrative. The characters are colorful, but they don't have anything to do (BTW, Bell would be wise to ditch the trite attempts at humor that are borderline racist mockery).

I really liked Bell's earlier Hawke novels, which were a good combination of James Bond meets Robin Hood and Navy SEALS -- not believable in the least, but great fun to read. Unfortunately, Bell has lost his grip of this series, and Warriors is the worst yet. The book is a little dumb and disjointed, which could be overcome if it weren't so boring.
