Présentation de l'éditeur

This inspiring sketchbook, part of the 20 Ways series from Quarry Books, designed to offer artists, designers, and doodlers a fun and sophisticated collection of illustration fun. Each spread features 20 inspiring illustrated examples of 45 themes - jellyfish, seahorses, star fish, clown fish, eels, sea lions, star fish, lobster, and much, much more - over 900 drawings, with blank space for you to draw your take on 20 Ways to Draw a Jellyfish and 44 Other Amazing Sea Creatures.

This is not a step-by-step technique book--rather, the stylized sea anemones, dolphin, and squid are simplified, modernized, and reduced to the most basic elements, showing you how simple abstract shapes and forms meld to create the building blocks of any item that you want to draw. Each of the 20 interpretations provides a different, interesting approach to drawing a single item, providing loads of inspiration for your own drawing. Presented in the author's uniquely creative style, this engaging and motivational practice book provides a new take on the world of sketching, doodling, and designing.

Get out your favorite drawing tool, and remember, there are not just 20 Ways to Draw a Jellyfish and 44 Other Amazing Sea Creatures!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Great Homeschool or Art Class Resource! 12 mars 2015
Par Del Pinto - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
20 Ways to Draw a Jellyfish is the next installment in Quarry's 20 Ways series is all about the ocean. Since I live near the beach I love to draw and doodle cute sea creatures which is what this book is filled with!

What's really great about Trina's drawing style is the way she gives all the animals such cute faces and expressions. The really make you smile too.

This is a great "beach read" and a great book to have for the kids. Since they do not teach art in our school, this series of books has been really helpful to show my kids how different animals can be drawn during our own homeschool style art class. I also recommend the other books in this series.20 Ways to Draw a Butterfly and 44 Other Things with Wings: A Sketchbook for Artists, Designers, and Doodlers

5.0 étoiles sur 5 All about seeing and drawing 16 mars 2015
Par E. Mcclure - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
This book is all about seeing and drawing. With 900 drawings to inspire and learn from, this book is a hands on, right brained treat for artists, designers, and doodlers. Each 2-page spread focuses on one sort of sea creature, with plenty of space in the book for you to draw your own. None of the drawings are intimidating, even for a beginner, but showcase different techniques, and angles. Some have more details, others are almost abstract in their simplicity. Some are very realistic, and others very cartoonlike.

Subjects include a wide variety of sea animals, both real and fanciful: Albatross, Anemones, Angelfish, Clams, Clown Fish, Corals, Cormorants, Crabs, Crocodiles, Dolphins, Eels, Fishermen, Hermit Crabs, Jellyfish, King Neptunes, Lionfish, Lobsters, Manatees, Mermaids, Narwhals, Nautiluses, Octopi, Oysters, Puffer Fish, Rays, Sand Dollars, Scallops, Scuba Divers, Sea Offers, Sea Serpents, Sea Slugs, Sea Turtles, Sea Urchins, Seagulls, Seahorses, Seals, Seashells, Sharks, Sponges, Squid, Starfish, Sunfish, Swordfish, Walruses, and Whales.

When I first opened the book, I was really surprised that only the first two pages have any text. But as I continued to turn the pages, I found myself drawn into each set of drawings, and seeing and comparing the differences and similarities on my own, without the intrusion of words and instructions. None of the drawings are beyond the ability of even fairly novice artists, and there's plenty here to inspire anyone, regardless of your personal style preferences.

The book is mostly printed in black and white, with occasional spot color elements. The paper is heavy weight, and has a good tooth for pens and pencils. I didn't notice any problem with bleeding or feathering, but have only tried out a black felt tip on the paper so far.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Enjoyable drawing ideas! 8 avril 2015
Par Hello Happy - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
20 Ways to Draw a Jellyfish, by artist Trina Dalziel, is based on a winning proposition: The best way to learn to draw is by… drawing. I remember being disheartened when my earliest drawings were nowhere near as good as professionals’ and assuming that I must not be a good artist, the end. But once I got past those fears, and learned to draw for my own enjoyment, drawing becomes really fun — for any age. This drawing book offers 45 different aquatic themes — sharks, mermaids, clownfish, dolphins, sea turtles, and so on — each rendered in a wide variety of simple ways, opposite blank pages for your own drawings. Some are doodles, some are abstract genius, but all are fun, easy to copy, and designed to inspire artists of any age to create their own art. The book is well-bound and printed on high-quality drawing paper. Brilliant idea, well-executed, and enjoyable for all ages.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Swimming in the cuteness! 12 mars 2015
Par Stefanie G. - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
The illustrations in this book are so cute! I generally don't do much with anything fish or nautical themed but that is changing with this book. I think the jellyfish are my favorite. As a New Englander the lobsters will definitely be on my "to-doodle" list as well. One of the ways I like to use these books is in card making and to find a pun saying to go with the illustration. If you gravitate toward using sea life in your art this will be a great resource.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This book is wonderful and written to inspire you 10 février 2015
Par Vicki Holloway - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché
This book is wonderful and written to inspire you. It is not a step by step how to book on drawing. It is designed for an artist (or artist to be) of any age or skill level. I liked the fact that each animal had several different art styles. Each group of drawings has simpler shapes as well as more advanced ideas! There is a space to practice your own drawings. This book is very well done. I appreciated the paper it was printed on because it felt like sketching paper. I find that the book is a wonderful addition to my collection because it made me want to get my pens and paper out and draw a whole ocean of sea creatures!
