Présentation de l'éditeur

Live . . . Laugh . . . Read . . . with New York Times bestselling author Christie Craig . . .

“Christie Craig is a must-read.” —New York Times bestselling author Nina Bangs

Till Deaths Do You Part . . .

Katie Ray was about to marry a man she didn’t love—and who didn’t love her. Even losing her $8,000 engagement ring wasn’t enough of a sign to call things off. What did it take? Being locked in the closet with a sexy PI, and being witness to murder.

. . . Or They Bring You Together

Carl Hades hardly wanted to be shackled with another man’s soon-to-be-wife, especially when the gorgeous redhead stirred emotions he’d avoided for years. He’d been hired by an elite Houston wedding planner to investigate some missing brides. When those brides turned up dead, Carl saw where the whole situation was headed: just like Katie’s wedding ring and her ceremony, right down the toilet. Because, while Katie was suddenly and delightfully available, he had a feeling she was next in line to die. And before he could ask her to say “I do,” he had to know who would say “I did it.”

Cet livre est un polar/chick lit qui n'est pas mauvais, mais pas exceptionnel non plus. L'auteur a tout de même un don pour décrire l'alchimie entre les personnages.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 The crudest Christie Craig I've ever read 18 juin 2013

Okay, when you read a Christie Craig romance, you know there will be sex; you will know that the women will be C cups; you know that there will be hunky men with large...attributes, who generally don't want to commit. You know that those hunky men will think some rather crude thoughts, but heavens to betsy, I wanted to take a shower after all the F bombs and other crude descriptions in this book.

Our hero makes his first romantic move by practically feeling her up in the middle of her place of employment during business hours--he literally pulled her skirt up and felt her butt. I don't think you could call me a prude, and this is the fourth Christie Craig book I've read, but that kind of action just jolts us out of the story. He wasn't a jerk earlier when he thought she was engaged (at least not outwardly), but the second he finds out she has called off the wedding, he moves in like a shark. This is not endearing or romantic. It's just kinda gross.

And she is perfectly right in not wanting to be on this man's so-called "poke list," but her character growth is that she decides a fling is okay. Wow.

I give it a star for an interesting story line, (although I'm really tired of the men afraid of commitment plots)and half a star for characters and half for un-put-down-ability. The dialogue seems very natural and gets a full star. It's obvious that Christie Craig can write. It's a shame that she turned what could have been an intriguing romance into something that just came off as trashy.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 really? that's the ending? 1 juin 2014

I must say, after reading some of the reviews on here, I wonder if I read the same book. First of all, using the "f" bomb? What century are you from? Besides, the female protagonist states numerous times she does not use that word unless the situation specifically calls for it and uses the term "fudge" instead. The sex scenes were tastefully done, not over the top as in some novels, and certainly not on each and every page. This was definitely more of a mystery than a romance novel with a riveting storyline. It contained enough angst to keep me interested and was quite well balanced with equal amounts of humor. The problem with the book and the reason I gave it only 3 stars, here's the spoiler part for those of you who may not want to know, is the ending. I absolutely cannot stand when a piece of writing is left unfinished and that is how this book left me feeling. It was as though the author thought the denouement didn't need to included or couldn't think of what more to say. There was no true resolution to the character's problem. If you think telling each other I love you is the ending, then OK, you have your ending. I wanted to know they worked it out. With all the differences that built up to that moment, simply stating that we'll somehow work it out just doesn't seem enough. I have read many novels that had an ending at this point in the book and, quite frankly, no longer read those authors because I feel this is a very amateurish way to finish off what began as a very promising, enjoyable story.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Read 17 mai 2014

I loved Christie Craig's Divorced series! I had qualms about getting this book without reading any reviews. Another reviewer complained about the profanity. Yes, it's there & there frequently. But it made the book REAL. While I don't speak like that, there are many people around me that do. I don't like it, but it doesn't offend me. Some aspects of the story are a bit unrealistic, but heck Evanovich had a book where there was a giraffe roaming around Trenton for for several days. You can't tell me that is realistic!

Bottom line is that Craig writes good romantic suspense. She has a formula, so after you read a few you will make the comparisons between them. But the formula works for her (& me). No one who read romance expects them to be completely realistic. If we did, why are we reading romance novels to begin with? It's supposed to be an escape.

Further bottom line, if you don't want to read profanity or sex scenes, then Craig is not an author for you. If you don't mind, then you will enjoy her books.

I didn't give this one five starts because it appeared that the book had not properly proofread or edited.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Wedding planners beware 18 juillet 2014

Weddings can be Murder by Christie Craig is a murder mystery romance.
Katie is planning her wedding to Joe but she isn’t really excited about it. She is having second thoughts but thinks it is just wedding jitters. Her wedding planner, Tabitha Jones isn’t helping. She keeps changing her mind about who to hire and Katie is getting frustrated. She goes to see Tabitha to set the final details. While she is there, Tabitha steps out to talk to someone. Katie doesn’t see who it is but hears a gunshot. Growing up in her family, you knew what a gunshot sounded like. She crept to the door and all she could see was Tabitha lying on the floor with a pool of red on her white suit. Katie edges out of the office and tries to find a back door but hears the killer following her. She goes into a dark room and hides from the killer.
Cal is a private investigator and has come to see Tabitha because she says someone is killing her brides-to-be and she thinks she knows who it is. As Cal gets to the door, he hears a gunshot and goes in cautiously. He hears Katie running down the hall and follows. He enters the dark room and just as he figures out that the killer had been in the room too, the killer locks the door. There is no way out and neither Cal nor Katie has their phone. They are stuck here in the dark for the night. While they are here, they get to talking and get to know one another. Sparks are flying.
Meanwhile, Les, Katie’s best friend, is waiting for her at a bar where she is to finally meet Joe, Katie’s fiancé. While there, she flirts with a good looking guy. Finally she leaves to go find Katie. She and Joe show up at Tabitha Jones’ house as the police do. She and Joe follow Katie and Cal to the police station. They introduce themselves while waiting. Sparks that were flying there go out.
While Katie goes around trying to cancel all her wedding plans and get refunds, Les is running around trying to keep up with her grandmother who likes to run around naked, and Joe tries to stay away from Les. Cal tries to find the killer before he kills again. He does have his bride-to-be in mind- Katie!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Hillarious, with lots of plot twists! 13 juin 2014

Katie is so in love with Joe and they are getting married in two weeks. She can't wait for her best friend, Les to meet him. She knows Les is just going to love her fiancé. But Les has some serious misgivings about Katie getting married to Joe. Something just doesn't seem quite right. Starting with the fact that Katie's nervous stomach has her throwing up every time she even thinks about the wedding or Joe.

Tabitha the wedding planner calls Carl Hades, PI, to engage his services. There is a problem with the brides she's working with. They have been disappearing and Tabitha fears there's been foul play. Can he meet with her this afternoon?

Les meets an incredible man at the restaurant bar while she is waiting for Katie to show up. He has this incredible wow factor that she hasn't felt since her fiancé, Mike, died the year before. She can't wait to tell Katie about this mysterious stranger.

Through no fault of their own, Carl and Katie are forced to spend the night together in a locked room in Tabitha's home. Carl has just escaped the clutches of one red head, he doesn't need to be stuck with another one, especially one who has a nervous stomach! He has secrets that he doesn't want this hot lady to learn, but somehow they come out. This macho PI owns a poodle by the name of Precious!

Tabitha changed all of the wedding plans without first consulting Katie. Why was she changing the cake baker, photographer, and florist? Tabitha is adamant about these changes and refuses to back down. There must be some reason, but Katie has no idea what it could be.

All Katie knows is that she can't marry Joe and after one incredible evening with Carl, he no longer wants her. He's shipping her off to stay with his dad, who will keep her in protective custody, because she's next on the killer's list!

I particularly liked this book because it showed some of the chaos involved in weddings and how crazy things can be when last minute changes happen. It had a lot of plot complications and twists and turns, but they were all good. I loved that Katie kept getting Carl and his brother Ben confused, it added that comic relief that was much needed when things started getting too intense. I could even relate to the Les/ Joe situation, had something very similar to that happen to me! In the end, everything works out as it should. I look forward to reading more by Ms Craig in the future.
