Présentation de l'éditeur

Cilla Black is without doubt one of Britain's most treasured personalities. Generations have grown up with Cilla's music, TV shows, and performances. But how much do we really know about 'the girl with the bright red hair and the jet black voice'? What's It All About? is Cilla's own story, told for the first time ever. It's the story of a woman who has worked ceaselessly to stay at the top for forty years despite setbacks and personal tragedy; a life of incredible highs and terrible lows. In this deeply personal autobiography she tells her unique story in intimate and vivid detail for the very first time. This is the real Cilla Black.

I enjoyed this autobiography by Cilla Black. I remembered her from my youth when she was part of the "British Invasion" of the 60s. I recently viewed the three part miniseries about her and found out that she went on to be the highest paid woman entertainer in Britain. Her love story with her husband Bobby was lovely. I enjoyed this book and her writing style. I have recently watched a lot of YouTube videos about her and this book helped complete her story for me. I felt like I could hear her voice quite clearly in this book. Very enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book so much. It was heart warming, and inspiring. It is so wonderful to read a memoir or biography about someone you knew little about and discover after reading, that you love him or her and are a huge fan. Cilla's warmth and humour simply jump off of every page. I laughed loudly at her funny anecdotes and I cried for her losses. People always seem to see celebrities as non people...either gods and goddesses, mythological figures, unspeakable villains, or laughable cartoon characters. But books like What's it All About, drive home the reality that they are none of these things. They are real people just like us, with real families just like ours, and the same feelings and desires that we all have. Reading this lovely memoir was like going out to lunch with your best girlfriend. What a fantastic lady.

However like the other reviewer I agree that the spelling mistakes on the Kindle version are absolutley appalling. I was very confused that almost every time, her name was indeed spelled 'Cillia'. I was beginning to think that's how she really spells it. And really, one time printing 'Bingo' Starr is one thing, but when it's constantly spelled this way over and over, it is pretty ridiculous. If it didn't say 'Starr' I would have thought she was very good friends with a little dog whose owner sings and claps his hands a lot, instead of the famous rock drummer. Where were the proof readers?? Obviously there were none to be found. That said, I wouldn't knock off stars because the book itself more than makes up for the spelling errors, as idiotic as they are.

Interesting biography because it is written by Cilla herself. It takes her life up to the death of her husband and a little later. Of course since then many years have past, but the most interesting part of her life is covered. Given her recent death it is a must for Cilla fans, or those who are interested in how she became such a much loved personaity en Britain.

Your classic biography as transcribed. Some interesting details of the 1960's rock scene. Not consistent with the biopic with Sheridan Smith.

The usual pop bio, but it does present the early days in Liverpool well & swinging 60's London well.
