Présentation de l'éditeur

Smut sells.

Michael Rourke learned this the hard way.

Struggling to make ends meet as a mystery writer, he sold his soul - and his pride - as he pedaled sex and lust writing under the pen name Christoph Strong.

No one knew he was the one behind the steamy stories on the bestsellers lists. And he planned to keep it that way.

Until he met her.

Monica Singer, an infamous blogger, is keen to discover the truth of his secret identity.

During a chance meeting at a book convention, Michael and Monica form an instant connection. And soon, an industry rivalry becomes something else entirely.

But as Michael starts to let his guard down, he doesn’t realize that the person he's learning to trust may be hiding secrets of her own.

Secrets that could ultimately destroy everything.

HASH(0x913729b4) étoiles sur 5 Five hilarious stars! 15 juillet 2014

I won't rehash the plot and blurb for you here, because there's plenty of reviews that will do that, what I will say is how this book made me feel. As both a reader and a writer the book world can be a frustrating one. So HUGE props to Amalie for telling it how it is out there.
No one is safe in this book, bloggers, writers, fans. She took a theme, which isn't often written about and wrapped a story around it, and she could have left it there, but she didn't. She was braver - and funnier than that. She dove face first into the publishing dramas and pitfalls and opened that crazy can of worms right up.
She twisted every angle, and exposed every ugly secret that there is to tell, and it turned out to be one of the funniest and most brilliant books I've read in a long time because of it.

The main characters had such a great connection, their back and forth banter had me in stitches at times and yet when things began to heat up between them...damn! Wait, no that doesn't correctly express how it was, let me try that again. I meant DAYUuuuuuuUM!
That's not to say that the MC's and the wicked funny plot are the only thing that's good about this, because it isn't. Every character in the book is so well thought out and planned that their friendships were totally real to me, and that's what makes them all so lovable. The friendship and banter between them all. The catchy little one-liners. The sexy romance. The angst. The drama. Did i mention this was hilarious?

Loved this book, and can't wait to see what Amalie Silver comes up with next. This is an author to watch.

HASH(0x9143fd50) étoiles sur 5 This books was one of the best summer reads of 2014! 11 août 2014

Once in a while I buy a book (not getting it through my blog to read) and I am super happy I did. I heard about Word Play, through a friend and decided to read it one slow weekend. This has to be one of the bests reads I have had all summer long.

Michael Rourke is a writer. After writing other books, and not becoming a successful by writing mystery, he turns to what is hot right now. Writing erotica. But Michael doesn't write under his own name, but rather a pen name, Christoph Strong. This way no one knows it is him. Michael is not thrilled with his new writing endeavors, but it is paying the bills. Actually, he is making a killing! So now his publisher wants his to do book signing. The only problem with that, is that people might found out who he really is. But his books are so in demand, they need him out there.

At a book convention "Christoph" meets 'Monica Singer'. She is an infamous blogger that had previously trashed his work. While he is peeved at her review, he finds himself attracted to the women behind it. The only problem is that she is not Monica, she is Lauren. No spoilers here, but Lauren is more than he thinks she is.

The attraction and fling between Michael/Christop and Monica/Lauren is hot and at the same time comical. These two have a connection, but it seems it is not destined for anything big because these two are using huge secrets!
This book was a behind the scenes look at the book world. Writes, publishes, bloggers etc. I found it hysterically funny and sweet at the same time. Amalie Silver put her heart and soul into this book. She came out with Faceplace, Greatreads, Twatter, Amazonia, and my favorite, Instaguru. You know exactly what she was talking about with a spin on the names.

If you are looking for a book that is different from the rest of the other books out there right now, this is it. It is funny and sweet. It is romantic and crazy insane. It is the best book I have read this summer. No lie, and I am a blogger!!

HASH(0x91aa27bc) étoiles sur 5 Very refreshing and unique 19 mars 2015

Michael Roarke's career as a mystery writer wasn't going as well as he hoped. In order to be able to pay his bills he wrote an erotica novel under the name Christian Strong. It looks like that went way better than expected, since he's now a bestseller. Though honestly, he feels a bit ashamed for writing smut, but as long as nobody knows who he really is, he doesn't care.

That is about to change though. On his way to a book signing someone discovers his pictures and links it with Christian Strong. The mayhem that follow, well nobody expected that. Suddenly he needs security and women are throwing their panties at him. He's become the Justin Timberlake of the book world. Michael really doesn't like it. At first he goes along with it, but it's just not his thing.

When he meets Monica he lets his fake facade fall and makes a real connection. Though things are not quite what they seem with her. That's about all I can say about the plot. This one is definitely way more fun to discover yourself.

The story is told from a dual point of view, so while the characters are trying to figure out what's going on, you get to be all knowing. Michael and Monica are great characters. The idea of a man writing erotica was very refreshing. I know there are very little men who do that and I can imagine a lot of women would go extreme fan girl on such a guy, certainly if he's good looking.

The whole setup of this story was actually very refreshing and unique. There was plenty of humor and interesting twists. All the characters were very likable and I was jealous of Monica in the more steamy scenes. This is one of those books I enjoyed way more than expected. I really liked how it involved authors and book bloggers. There were these little blog snippets that were hilarious and so recognizable. Amalie Silver has done an amazing job with this story and I'll definitely be reading more from her.

HASH(0x91aa2ce4) étoiles sur 5 Different than your typical romance novel 10 octobre 2014
Par Nancy - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
I was disappointed with this book. I was very excited to start this book but then I did and it dragged and then I got a little excited because at 35% it was picking up and then it flopped and disappointment set in again.

Struggling to make a living as Michael Rourke, a mystery author, is forced to start writing erotica romance under the pen name of Christoph Strong. The author Christoph Strong was beginning to be known around the world and quickly became an international best seller. He’s a bit embarrassed that he has to resort to writing erotica to pay his rent. And unfortunately because he was embarrassed he couldn’t share his fame with his friends and family. He didn’t want anybody to find out who he really was.

One of his nemesis is an author by the name of Betty Black. She had the top blogs begging for ARC’s, and her street team was relentless. And once her books went live his book sales halted. While on his way to a book convention in Houston his agent emails him and informs him that the cat’s out of the bag. A photo was tweeted (shouldn’t it be twatted in this book since the site is called Twatter? LOL) of him as being the great Christoph Strong. So doing the only thing he knew what to do in this time of crisis, he gave the people what they wanted and BECAME the great Christoph Strong.

Monica Singer is one of the top bloggers in the industry and gave Christoph’s book a critical review. So naturally he didn’t like her too much. When Monica and Christoph first meet there wasn’t too much pleasantries changed between the two. Monica’s assessment of Christoph is right on when she states that he’s pretending to be humble and laid back. You can feel the tension swarming off them.

Although this book was different and not your typical romance novel, it didn’t WOW me enough to give it over 3 stars. It was just MEH to me. I was hoping for so much more with all the great reviews it was getting amongst my GoodReads friends. But everybody’s taste are different right!?

I did love how the author switched up the names of the popular websites: Twatter, GreatReads, & Amazonia to name a few.

HASH(0x91aa2cfc) étoiles sur 5 Quick Fun Read 15 août 2014
Par Selena Robins - Publié sur Amazon.com

I enjoyed the satirical tone to the voice, characters and plot. The exaggeration of the romance industry; writers, editors, bloggers, fan girls, readers, reviewers, authors, agents, indie publishing, traditional publishing, conferences and just about everything we all recognize when it comes to the romance book world was well done.

The dialogue was witty, and I loved the play on words for social media and "Smeep."

Fast paced with cuteness, fun sex scenes, love and a whole lot of sweet, this is book to be taken with a big shaker of salt beside it, and read in the spirit in which it was written and that is....light heart look at an industry a lot of us love and enjoy.
