Présentation de l'éditeur

The Collision is the worst disaster in human history. So far…

In the near future, an experiment at the Large Hadron Collider causes an enormous explosion, known as the Collision. The blast flattens a huge chunk of central Europe and punches a massive hole in the Earth’s surface. Over the next decade, unspeakable horrors pour from the rift: vicious creatures with a taste for human flesh, a terrible scream that drives all who hear it insane, a phantom entity that feeds on fear and paranoia, and a nightmare train from the pits of hell, to name but a few. This onslaught of terror causes the collapse of civilization and threatens to wipe humanity from the planet.

World’s Collider is a unique concept in short fiction, where all eighteen original stories are part of a common narrative, recounting the disaster and its aftermath. A true novel by many voices, including Steven Savile, James Moran, Aaron Rosenberg, Trent Zelazny, Jonathan Green, Simon Kurt Unsworth, Kelly Hale, Richard Wright and a host of new talent.

Fifty million people died in the Collision. They were the lucky ones…

"Each component cranks up the tension and the disparate tales combine in mosaic-fashion to deliver a truly gripping narrative." - Ian Whates, author of The Noise Within

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Fantastic Kaleidoscope Of Apocalyptic Stories Well Put Together! 12 juillet 2012

What a GREAT read! I picked this up yesterday and read it all last night until my eyes couldn't stay open, and then finished it this morning. It was so good I simply couldn't wait to post a review!

World's Collider is a collection of apocalyptic short stories that don't just follow a common theme like other anthologies or short story collections. In World's Collider each story co-exists with the others in the same space and for the same common narrative, providing more of a 'novel' than a collection of individual short stories.

The unique writing style of each author makes the entire book fresh and thrilling to read. You should definitely take the time to read the introduction too, you'll be able to appreciate the overall concept and story even more if you do.

I never reveal story details or provide any spoilers at all when I write reviews. It's against my 'religion' ;). Suffice it to say, with this talented bunch of writers, and this great theme, you are guaranteed a ride to remember when you read World's Collider!

Two thumbs up and definitely deserving a multitude of 5-Star Ratings!!! :)

I finally finished this book last night.

It was truly incredible.

Using the different authors to create a novel worked much better than I honestly had expected. I was drawn into this story of chaos and the effect on mankind and the planet. I continued to read to know what would happen next and was left thinking about the novel as I was away from it.

The author's different writing styles and ideas were powerful and drew you in. Though the pieces were all so different it was never jarring or inconsistent. Instead the short stories were weaved together in a very clever way that highlighted each author's talent with words.

I was thoroughly impressed with the terror that the creatures that exited the rift created in me.

This book will have a lasting impact on me and I will recommend this to all I meet.

Read this on my wife's Kindle. I was really intrigued by the anthology's concept and found it fascinating. I don't usually read science fiction, but I found this really interesting and the way the stories relate to each other kept me reading.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 #1 Horror Anthology of 2012 10 février 2013

"An anthology posing as a novel? Or possibly a novel posing as an anthology."

I highly recommend that you read the intro first; it explains the concept behind this anthology, which is nothing short of fantastic, and the editor, Richard Salter, did an amazing job of putting it all together. World's Collider was not only the best anthology that I read in 2012, but it's the most remarkable story collection that I've ever read to date.

The individual accounts within this anthology, written by multiple authors with diverse writing styles, with various POVs and locations, create a larger story about a dimensional rift that opens in the middle of Europe.

While it reminds me slightly of the presentation of World War Z, Salter takes it even further by constructing a novel with short stories written separately by numerous authors. The intro explains the painstaking process.

The stories themselves will both terrify and thrill horror fans, describing mankind's struggle to survive the onslaught of demonic entities spilling into our world from the rift.

If you enjoy novels such as Craig DiLouie's Infection series, or Read the End First (edited by Suzanne Robb), you will relish the nightmares within the pages of World's Collider!

This book is filled with great stories I've thoroughly enjoyed, but what truly sets it apart from other anthologies is the "shared world" idea. In any anthology, I usually just pick and choose a few stories to read, but this one works more like a novel and invites you to discover its entire world. Each short story sucks you in a bit further in as you follow the breadcrumbs, each intriguing in its own merit as well as making the anthology's world more intriguing. I've recommended it to ll my friends. Let's hope to see more anthologies like this!
