Présentation de l'éditeur

  • For years they investigated the paranormal, pursued the "monsters of the week," and sought the truth behind extraterrestrial activity, along with the grand conspiracy surrounding it rooted deep within their own government. But when Agents Mulder and Scully reunite for a new, ongoing series that ushers The X-Files into a new era of technological paranoia, multinational concerns, and otherworldly threats, it'll take more than a desire "to believe" to make it out alive.

Biographie de l'auteur

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Pretty darn good. 23 janvier 2015

With rumors of a new Xfiles series a foot, I decided to pick up this digital copy of Season 10 vol 1. I have to say that its a nice continuation of the series. It tries to bring some new life to the storyline they had set in season 9, and fix some of the choices the made back then. I'm interested in to see where this is all going.

This copy also doesn't have the usual viewing problems I get with digital comics I buy on amazon. I have a fire hdx, and almost all the comics I have won't display the double page spreads when you turn it on landscape mode. This makes some panels unreadable because the panels are too small. This book doesn't have problems because it doesn't have have double page spreads.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Yet Another Disposable Media Tie-In 1 janvier 2017
Par Stephen Arvidson - Publié sur Amazon.com

This premiere volume, collecting the first five issues of The X-Files: Season 10, is set roughly a decade after the series ended. Former FBI agents Mulder and Scully are living a quiet existence together—that is, until Deputy Director Skinner shows up with a new threat. Scully soon finds that she has a personal stake in the case when it appears that the child she secretly put up for adoption may be in danger.

Much as I appreciate the writers' attempts to bring back beloved characters who perished in the course of the TV show (i.e. Cancer Man, the Lone Gunmen), I'm more bothered that Chris Carter, who lent a contributing hand to these comics, would allow The X-Files to take on the same nihilistic practices so often found in superhero comics and video games. Bringing classic characters back from the dead not only subverts the drama of their deaths but also weakens the impact of any future character deaths because anyone who follows the series knows they'll just be resurrected at a later time. Nevertheless, Season 10 makes clear bids toward legitimacy and relevance with its opening myth-arc, of an ascendant cabal bent on hastening the alien re-population of Earth, and Joe Harris seems bent on assuring readers that this isn't a disposable media tie-in.

The mismatched art styles and varied depictions of Mulder, Scully, and other classic X-Files characters are somewhat jarring, though not as problematic as it is in Volume 2 or the stultifyingly awful one-shot, The X-Files: Conspiracy. If you're looking for better comic stories featuring Agents Mulder and Scully, I strongly recommend the Topps Comics adaptations from the mid-1990s (which is now being reprinted under The X-Files: Classics; the artwork found in those issues is both superior and consistent.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This Collection is Truly An X-Tension of The X-Files 20 avril 2014

When I heard that The X-Files was going to be made into a comic series, I was a little hesitant to be excited for it. It could have been a disaster. IDW Publishing went about it the perfect way, though. They brought in series creator Chris Carter and hired Joe Harris to write the books. The X-Files Season 10 is perfect in every way. You can't help but love this book. As it's executive produced by Chris Carter, it is cannonical to the mythology of The X-Files.

The X-Files Season 10 Volume 1 collects the first 5 issues in the series and it is just as good as The X-Files television show. Harris is an amazing writer and gets the characters. Carter oversees it all to keep it in cannonical. I can't say enough good things about it. Further, this collection is a beautiful hardcover edition that's perfect for your book shelf or coffee table (or X-Files shrine).

Keep up the great work IDW and Joe Harris!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 True to the Spirit of the Original Series 8 mai 2015

The X Files, Season 10, Volume 1 begins with Dana Skully being chased by robed figures. We go back in time and see the lead up to the day, the event, and its consequences. They are after Skully's (and Mulder's?) son, William, but who are they? There are two types of episodes on The X Files, "Monster of the Week" episodes and "Mythology" episodes. This comic is definitely the latter. This comic leaves more questions than answers, the way a good episode of The X Files does.

So, you have a free hour and enough money to buy this comic. Should you? If you're a fan of The X Files, you should. If you watched all nine seasons of The X Files, you definitely should. This takes you in a new direction, and if you read it, you'll be buying more issues. There is a tendency in media tie-in comic books to put everything possible in. You see the Lone Gunmen, the Cigarette Smoking Man, a new breed of aliens (?), and of course Mulder and Skully. That's a given, but what I was blown away by in this comic is how true it stays to the vision of the original series. I'm hooked. ****1/2
