Between his 4 books, Gregor provides an internally consistent approach to yoga as an 8 limbed path. I've found so many sources to be in conflict with one another. I don't have the expertise or experience to know which source is correct. Having the full practice put in context, with a single consistent set of instructions, is really helpful.

While this book focuses on meditation, it also explains how the 8 limbs thread together. As a relative novice in yoga, I found this to be the biggest value of the book. For instance, asana does more than tone the body - when taught well, it introduces aspects of the later limbs. Understanding this relationship is very helpful, both in naively guiding my own practice, but more importantly, in identifying who to trust as a teacher.

I appreciate that the author draws his teachings both from experience and a broad survey of the yogic texts, including references.

I absolutely love this book! I have not found a book that is so concise and filled with deep yet coherent and easy to understand information as this book. I have loved yoga for almost 10 years now. I enjoy learning about authentic yogic philosophy and theory and how it works in the context of its true and original purpose. I have learned more from this one book than most books and sources of information I have encountered. This is a completely no nonsense compilation written by a true modern-day master. The book is filled with explanations and systematic instructions based on the author's deep and comprehensive experiences. He has studied yoga from the actual original written sources, learned directly from the most dedicated master yogis we have had in the 20th century, and compiled comprehensive information relevant to true yogic meditation into a cohesive, scholarly book. Everything stated in this book is backed by authentic, traditional yogic sources and references which allow the reader to understand the true meaning of the ancient documents. This helps to implement the methods properly into practice. This book is a work of art. I respect Gregor more than any other yogi today! Thank you for such a great book and for your time and energy :)

First, read what the author says about this book, it is exactly what it is. Saying that, here is my input:
Meditation holds not few snares for the unsuspecting mind. This book unravels many things about those snares with scientific accuracy and devoted purpose. It should help the practitioner of a few years make some order and refine their practice plan, get rid of undesired results or stagnation in their practice, and give another wise new eye on why's and how's.
The author is knowledgable, the book reads both easy and deep, and is written with honesty, openness and order.

Exercises are explained in detail and chronology, background is given with proper suggestions, warnings and personal insight.
Beginners might find it a good preparation for years to come, but also might find the amount of knowledge needed to understand some of the things said here overwhelming, so for them this might not be the first book to buy.

For complete non-yogis I am not sure there is much to look for here, not because there isn't any great meditation inspiration here but because they might get delusional about what they read if not combined with any kind of bodily experience and understanding of what this book is all about.

I haven't read the 1st two books yet, but I got the Pranayama book with this one, and I am positive I will read and use them a lot.

A very thorough book on yogic meditation. At times Gregor sees very stern with his direction, but as the book gets deeper you can see where he is coming from, as he has deep awareness and passion for the subject. A must read for those looking to advance in meditation and kundalini awakening. It is advanced.
