I always thought meditation would require me to wake up at five in morning and adopt a strict regime of discipline under the watchful eye of a master, like you see in the movies.

However, this is not true. This book has been an eye opener. The techniques here are simple and easy to do. He also guides you on the right way to prepare yourself physically and mentally before beginning to meditate.

Moreover, the book also provides ways in which you can incorporate meditation into daily life. It is a really helpful guide and as Taylor says, ‘meditation is not just for masters, it is for everyone

For the beginner, whether seeking inner peace or a stonger conscious connection to the world, meditation is an effective tool to praepare your heart, your soul and your mind. But learning the techniques can be daunting. Zen and the Art of Meditation hits home in explaining the basics of meditation.

I am persoanlly a long term practitioner of many forms of meditation, though I have not trained formally. Nor am I aware of many specific techniques. The book, while not delving into many details, outlines many different meditation modalities. Gave me the drive to look further.

I have always wondered what meditation is all about. Initially I thought it was just a gimmick, but after reading Taylor’s book, I realized it is a simple exercise and effective too. It has been a month since I began the breathing exercises and trying to be mindful of each daily activity. It seriously has made me calmer.
I initially thought it would require rigorous practice and would need a huge overhaul in my schedule. But the techniques provided in this book are easy and I can now find that inner sense of peace anywhere and anytime.
