A recommander ! Un accessoire méconnu qui mérite à être connu. Très utile pour ceux qui utilise un PC style NUC sans écran pour du pilotage à distance.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 This is not the dummy plug you're looking for 6 septembre 2016

OK, this thing is a total piece, and I'll be returning it immediately. This is just goofy market segmentation at its worst. These guys appear to sell three adapters: one for 1080p and below, one for up to 4k (this one) AND, this is the kicker, they produce a third adapter, the fit-headless gs. Now, as far as I can tell, this thing is just an edid chip on an hdmi plug. That's it.

This particular adapter will, as advertised, go up to 4k resolution, no problem. What they fail to mention (and what I wish I'd seen in the reviews that mention it), is that this adapter will only go up to 15Hz refresh rate at 4k. Which, is pretty much pointless and useless. I'm not so much annoyed about that fact as I am that they don't bother to mention the refresh rate limitation anywhere in the product description. So, they charge at $5 price bumps for products that, so far as I can tell, are just differently-programmed edid chips in each of the three products, and they fail to actually explain the limitations of each. I'll change my review when they clearly state the limitations of the product on this page, until then, no go.

And, if you're like me, and using this for a headless (sort of) gaming rig, and you need 4k@60Hz, you apparently need the fit-headless gs model, that one will (according to the manufacturer's website) do 4k@60Hz.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 works well as part of a virtual dual monitor setup! 3 septembre 2014

I previously bought the regular "fit-Headless" HDMI plug, which did not support the resolution I needed for a virtual extended display (it did not support 1366 x 768). This was one does, along with many other "standard" resolutions. I am currently using VNC software on both my chromebook and Linux Mint laptop. The chromebook has VNC viewer for Chrome installed and is set up to be used as an extra display for main laptop. Much more convenient than lugging around an extra monitor.

This product does not depend on operating system as it is hardware driven. Thus I could use this setup on Windows and Mac laptops as well too!

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Be warned, these emulators provide 4K at 10hz, which isn't very good for remote use after all. 15 juin 2016

First, I'll start with the disappointment I had with these:
These devices do not operate at adequate refresh rates when at 4K. This is decidedly against their product description and marketing claims, which makes this a misleading product listing. From the product page on Amazon - look below at the description:
"Remote desktop access to the headless PC is then available at high resolution - up to 4088x2034 and high frame rate."

A "high frame rate" cannot be achieved at 4K or that higher resolution with these; rendering was limited to 10hz, which is very unsatisfying for even basic desktop/system use and light desktop composition.

The product description needs updating to prevent misleading customers into expecting that it is a "high refresh rate product," because it is not. Especially if marketed as a 4K product with such claims.

I should also note that CompuLab has rather arrogantly responded to a couple of reviews complaining of this shortcoming:
"We confirm that fit-Headless 4K refresh rate at high resolution is low. In fact it is stated in Q&A on Amazon."

They may claim that this is covered in the Amazon FAQ, however it is lengthy and buries such facts in later pages, so you truly must go digging for dirt like this. I don't think such an important detail should be buried like this - it needs to be on the main description and page. I'm sure the misleading description is unintentional, but it's still misleading.

Now, with that all out of the way, CompuLab does make a quality set of headless products and for a very reasonable price. They feel solid and look to stand regular use and hotplugging. And true to HDMI's intentions, they simply plug and play, working according to your OS' monitor configurations. Hardly any [other] surprises, really.

As stated above, this 4K display emulator results in a poor-performing desktop at greater-than-HD resolutions, but it functionally still technically stands ahead of the regular predecessor, so it's probably still a better choice to have, in case you decide the higher resolution is necessary over refresh rates/performance. Maybe it's not worth the cost difference to you, of course.

Ultimately the bogus product description for this 4K emulator is as far as I can see the only slip-up from CompuLab on their headless lineup, and it comes down to merely wording in the product description and a very hopeful customer base. They do serve a variety of needs and use cases across their product line and, as stated, for a very fair price.

You're best off avoiding these altogether unless you're just using these for signage or low-update-rate purposes. Or if you just want to operate at 1080p and have the choice of going higher (albeit at poor refresh rates).

I'd highly suggest going to look at their newer fit-Headless GS, which does in fact provide 4K at 60hz, and for not much more money. I'll be returning these slow 4K emulators and ordering the GS models.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Works perfectly on a Late 2013 Mac Pro 9 juillet 2014

Wow, this little jewel is fabulous! Works perfectly on a Late 2013 Mac Pro running "headless" (remotely controlled with no local monitor plugged into the computer).

Makes a wide range of display options (from 640 x 480 up to 3840 x 2160) for the headless computer available to the controlling computer. I am able to switch these display resolutions remotely with no "black screen" issues -- for me, this has solved the "black screen" display issue I experienced when attempting to run my headless Mac Pro (will work on the Mac Mini, as well, according to other reviewers). This product has also substantially increased the responsiveness of the remote display since the display emulator allows the headless computer's video acceleration to be utilized.

So glad I made this purchase. Perfect!
1.0 étoiles sur 5 Beware lower refresh rates (10Hz to 15Hz) 6 avril 2016

I don't write many reviews but this time I decided to take the time to do so. There are two reasons I'm giving this one star. The first reason is for sheer visibility for people who are interested in this product. As an avid Amazon Shopper myself I know as many others do that generally the first thing that you do when you are interested in a product on Amazon is read the five and one star reviews. The second reason that I am giving this one star is that while it is able to emulate up to 4K resolution the refresh rate at which it does so its only 10 HZ. Any resolutions at or above 1080p are significantly lower refresh rates ranging from 10 HZ up to 30 HZ when run at 1080i. I bought this product specifically to use for my Windows 10 custom built PC in order to convert it into a headless server to use for NVIDIA gamestream. I am unable to find a single working configuration to run the Nvidia gamestream a 1920x1080 using this. In order for me to be able to utilize the 1080 resolution on my Nvidia products or through moonlight gamestream I have to unplug this and plug my 4K TV into my server which defeats the purpose. For other VNC type connections such a Splashtop the limitations are not there and in fact this product is not even necessary for Splashtop due to the fact that Splashtop has its own virtual display driver. Additionally this product is only really necessary for anybody who is running Windows 10 as their operating system since Windows 8 Windows 7 and earlier iterations of windows have the ability to add a display in the settings without actually having one connected. Unfortunately Windows 10 had removed this feature hence the necessity for something like this. If this product was able to work with Nvidia gamestream which apparently recorded video output to the HDMI and streams it I would be more satisfied however I cannot justify recommending this product at the cost of $25 when it simply does not work the way I would want it to.
