This is not my first book about multiple personalities, the more I read the deeper I feel sorry for what they had gone through since the childhood. The victims are usually so frightened and ashamed to tell anyone, yet bear it till it's exposed......

Recently, I was faintly reminded of this book. I searched my 65 yr. old mind for what I knew I was remembering. I searched and searched again. Finally! I found it and knew I had to read this again, with my matured mind. I don't remember it being so deeply painful. I was able to understand her journey, better than before. I had read this book in my late twenties, early thirties, very much closer to trying to process my own abuse. I've learned empathy and the ability to finally let go....it no longer serves it's purpose. Ms. Chase, I am in awe of you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your road to life.

The book was used, and had scribble of the front jacket. The book came as described and I have enjoyed reading it. It gets a little confusing at times because it is a MP writing the book, but its so good!! The poor woman.

I was a child when Truddi Chase chose to step forward and introduce the world to Multiple Personality Disorder now know as Dissociative identity Disorder. Coming from a very conservative religion (i.e. restricted) I knew nothing of her at that time. 32years ago in 1990 I received my DID diagnosis and was swiftly excluded,shunned, excommunicated what have you. As demon possessed for accepting my multiplicity and seeking secular therapy.

So although When The Rabbit Howls was recommended by my therapy team years ago. I didn't read outside of the Dissociative identity Disorder Sourcebook out of fear.

Now that I have read it I wish that, I had not let my fears make me wait this long. This quote will stick with me.
" There is no harmless trespass against a child, no matter what it is called. "

Amen to that quote. I came away from this book with the validation that S.A. abuse from a step parent shouldn't be viewed any different than a biological one. As they were brought in and given authority over the child. For years I have heard the opposite.

Although there are wide differences between Truddi and The Troops, and my life. I understood her. Coming away with a sense of not being a oddity that should continue to hide my reality.

Beyond grateful this book is out there and would highly recommend to others in the Multiple \Dissociative community.

I do not even know where to start with this book. First thing, TRIGGER WARNING. If you are not on a healing journey this book WILL send you into a spiral. Especially if your abuse is from childhood. Considering how many Troops there are this book is written so well. One of the best written books I have ever read and I read a lot. The ability of the author to describe herself is amazing. She is so clear and succinct. I truly admire Trudy & her Troops. If you like non-fiction and thought provoking books this is it. Just be careful. I am in my healing journey and it is a lot. This may not be a quick read for you due to the topic. I can do about 10-12 pages at a time. Highly recommend!!
