Robinson tries to come across as worldly but his books lack authenticity.
There are so many details which show a lack of insight: Banks trampling all over a locus; a comment about Dennis Nilson which is completely wrong; some ignorant remarks about paedos (Jenny, the pseudo psychologist is one of the most irritating characters I have ever encountered in fiction!), and a French bistro serving croque monsieur?
Robinson should read Rankin or Hayder- might learn a thing or 2.
