An excellent textbook but disappointing Kindle edition
Commenté au Royaume-Uni le 16 juillet 2012
I bought this book because it is the standard text for my PGCME course. It is an excellent text book, well-written, readable and pragmatic. However, I have been moved to write my first Amazon review because I am very disappointed with the Kindle edition, and wish I could review it separately from the paper version (which I have also used, but via a library loan not an Amazon purchase). I would have given it one star but that doesn't seem fair as there is nothing wrong with the text itself.
The Kindle edition has no chapter numbers and no page numbers. The reading lists on my course are invariably specified according to chapter and page numbers, but with neither in the Kindle book I have to start hunting through the book myself to find the correct chapter. Having put off writing review for a little while I finally got spurned into action having read through another chapter to find that the references at the end are not numbered, despite their being referenced by number in the text. Yet the other chapters that I have read, including the one preceding this one, do have numbered references. I was reduced to having to count through them one by one to find the one that I wanted to pursue. These issues, in addition to a sprinkling of simple typographic errors makes this edition feel as though it has been thrown together with little thought. If I were to submit coursework with a similar degree of lack of attention to detail it would be marked down.
If I could I would return this and just buy the paper book instead. This is my first Kindle book and I doubt that I will buy another textbook in this way. I don't expect it matters all that much for reading novels.

Buy paper not kindle- superstar amazon!
Commenté au Royaume-Uni le 29 juillet 2012
Like the last customer I bought the kindle version principally as a means of saving money . I am a keen kindle user for fiction but i found the format less useful for a text book.. I am now buying the paper edition. I am not sure if this is just me ,I found it hard to find specific sections when i wanted to refer back but i wll avoid buying refernce in this form in future. The book is very well written and an excellent resource.
and useful for my PGCertMedEd.
addendum, Amazon are truly brilliant. They have refunded my kindle money as I now have purchased the soft back. I could not ask for better service and bought the kindle edition some weeks ago. GO amazon!

Excellent book for anyone interested in medical education - no matter what level
Commenté au Royaume-Uni le 10 septembre 2012
Having purchased this book in downloadable version for Kindle I am delighted with the accessibility and user friendly nature of the device. The book itself is the best medical education book of its kind and is a must for anyone connected to (or wishing to be connected to) medical education matters. I cannot recommend this book (or Kindle version of the book) highly enough

English style
Commenté aux États-Unis le 24 avril 2011
It is a great book, at the begining I was unsatisfied by its inclination towards the british style in teaching medicine yet I found that it is good to have diversity approach to what you wanna look at.
