I'd like to be kind
le 3 décembre 2009
I really would but this book has Not helped. My baby at a couple of months old was waking up about 3 to 4 times a night and I thought a book like this would help us get things in order. Unfortunately despite an elaborate sleep plan and sleep logs and everything else, her night waking shot up to 12-13 times a night and has stayed there ever since despite me dropping the Pantley Pull Off. I think baby just felt as if I was trying to get rid of her and although I tried to be as gentle and progressive as possible, I think she took it personally. Baby is now 11 months old and we're still at about 10 wakings between 8pm and 6 am. I would rename this book, The No-Sleep Cry Solution: Nobody sleeps and we all cry about it.
That said, I think this book is a laudable attempt to break through the cry-it-out method which I refuse to resort to no matter what. In my case, this leaves the Sears method or nightime parenting. I would rather wake up a hundred times a night than leave my poor child feeling lonely and abandoned in the dark. Sleeping through the night should be about falling happily and gratefully into the bed and enjoying the rest until the morning not about being sent to bed as though it's a prison. That's just my idea though. I'm sure this book works for some parents, perhaps even quite a few parents. It just didn't work for me.
