The title of this book says it all. Dark Places. Dark Book.
I liked this book, but unfortunately it was not a favorite.
The mystery is well-developed and complex,it kept me guessing until the end and I liked the ending, I did not feel like it was unrealistic or predictable. The writing was beautiful and the plot was intriguing.
The characters aren’t easy people to like. Which i didn't.
Libby Day is open and honest about her dark side, about the parts of herself she hates and that didnt make her boring but didnt make her likeable either.
Ben was even more unlikeable than Libby, he was an ignorant and a idiot teenager and i wont start talking about when he was an adult, because it was worse.
But then again, neither did any of the secondary characters. Lyle, he was a "so-so" character. Runner is a nightmare. Patty is probably the most likeable of all the characters. The more I found out about her, the more I liked her and I started feeling really bad about how she died.
There’s nothing fun about reading this book, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad reading experience.
I wanted to find out what happened that night Libby’s family was murdered. And I did. What shocked me.
This book was written from three perspectives, which I loved that part of the book: Libby in present day, Ben and Patty on the day before the murder. I found all three to be important and well-written, the author nailed it..
If you like that kind of book, dark and mysterious.. go ahead
I gave it 3.5/5 stars.
