Pamela Werner, a british girl, was murdered in Peking, January 1937, and the perpetrator was never caught. Her father pays people for information. His notes apparently point the finger at some characters.
Overall, this book was a huge disappointment, as the history aspect is compromised by errors, and the fictional aspect makes up the majority of the book.
If you google this- pamela werner murder peking you will find archive material on the case.
I'd have thought the author would have been a bit more careful when editing, as it is riddled with major errors.
Ce n'est pas histoire, and ce n'est pas un bon roman non plus.
