I wanted to know more. We never find out why, or how, or who. I want the back story, to understand how the world got this way. An interesting concept but it left my frustrated. It felt almost like a draft - missing plot and character development. Time passes slowly for most of the story, then it feels rushed for the end. I hope there will be more in the series to flesh Sand out a bit!
Big fan of Hugh Howey here (as you might have guessed with the tittle of this review!). After reading every book in the SILO series, I was affraid Mr Howey couldn't do it again... Thank god, I was wrong. The SAND series is very good, the style is perfect, the story grips you from the beginning, and the world he created is as always very well described, it feels like Mr Howey truly lives in the sand world the way he describes everything.
